4 Invitation Dear Partners in Innovation, Héma Québec is delighted to host the 13th International Donor Registry Conference (IDRC) and World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) Working Group meetings in Québec City, Canada from June 23 to June 27, 2020. This conference will include a unique partnership with the Cell Therapy Transplant Canada (CTTC), who will hold their annual meeting jointly with the IDRC. Under the theme of “Partners in Innovation”, to better represent the constantly evolving world of medicine, this event offers you a great opportunity to help promote advances in the field of stem cells and to create partnerships with major key players from all over the world. Your presence at this event is imperative in supporting the WMDA’s cause, which is to promote global collaboration and the sharing of best practices among its members for the mutual benefit of stem cell donors and patients. 5 About the WMDA The World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) is made up of organizations and individuals who promote global collaboration and best practices for the benefit of hematopoietic stem cell donors and transplant patients. The WMDA was informally initiated in 1988 by three pioneers in the field of transplantation: John Goldman (United Kingdom), E. Donnall Thomas (United States) and Jon J. van Rood (the Netherlands). In 1994, the WMDA was officially founded and is now led by the WMDA Board and Committees whose members are all experts in their various fields. The WMDA office team of professionals who are based in the Netherlands carry out the daily activities. The WMDA is also a member of the Worldwide Network for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (WBMT) and has a collaborative relationship with the World Health Organization. Photo: Marc Couture
6 About Héma-Québec Héma-Québec is a unique organization in the field of human biological products. Its mission is to efficiently meet the needs of the population of Québec for quality blood and other biological products of human origin. Héma Québec is the organization responsible for the Stem Cell Donor Registry in the province of Québec, Canada. Héma Québec’s registry includes a list of unrelated donors and is Québec’s only Public Cord Blood Bank. It also provides stem cells on a local, national and international level. Héma-Québec has more than 10,000 units of banked cord blood and over 45,000 names in the Stem Cell Donor Registry and is dedicated to providing high quality products and services to patients. 7 13th International Donor Registry Conference 2020 The International Donor Registry Conference (IDRC) is the official conference of the WMDA, offering the chance to meet and network with partners from different organisations over the course of five days. The conference consists of the WMDA working groups, committee meetings and plenary sessions. WMDA meetings offer a great opportunity to connect with other members and learn about all aspects of registry operations and cord blood banking. The Héma-Quebec Stem Cell Donor Registry will host the 2020 conference in Québec City from June 23 to 27, 2020.
