Mission Statement The Mokena Community Park District is committed to enhancing lives through the power of recreation by providing exceptional parks, facilities, programs, events, and services for all to explore and enjoy. Table of Contents IFC Letter From President LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT 1 Registration Information 2 Park Info at a Glance Dear Mokena Community Park District Residents, 3 Park ‘n Travel With fall winding down and winter in our sights, it is time to start thinking about how to stay active and engaged. The Mokena Community Park District has many exciting options for 4 Special Events residents of all ages. The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center offers a free walking track to all residents 8 Early Childhood Education of the park district and open gym time throughout the week. There are also many fitness classes 9 Youth General to help keep that summer exercise plan in place. For the Kids there are many fun and stimulating 11 Youth Dance opportunities that will help keep them active and off their devices, from on-going classes and leagues to special events. 12 Youth Gymnastics As we move out of winter into spring the park district really starts to come alive. We are 13 Youth/High School Athletic Leagues happy to announce that next spring our brand new pickleball courts will be completed and open for your enjoyment. These are located at Hecht Park and will be a great addition to our recreation 15 Youth Athletics offerings. We also have exciting news regarding our maintenance facility! This winter, the Board 19 Youth Summer Camps of Commissioners and staff will be finalizing the planning process in order to break ground on an 20 All Ages expansion of this complex. When our current maintenance facility was built, the park district had five parks. We have since grown to 20 parks. It is time to modernize this building so that the parks, 21 Teen/Adult Programs facilities and machinery can continue to be properly maintained going forward. 22 Adult leagues/Athletics Another exciting project that is in the works for 2020 is the development of Whisper Creek 24 All Ages Open Gym Park. We have started to engage the community on what features they would like to include in this 25 Health and Wellness park. The Park District has also applied for an Open Space and Land Acquisition (OSLAD) Grant 32 Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDRR) to help fund this project, and I am happy to report that we have made it to the final level and will be traveling to Springfield to present 34 Parties our plan. This matching grant will help the park district provide funding for this new park to the 35 Facility Rentals residents of this growing area. 36 Yunker Park Amenities I would like to take this time to thank the residents of Mokena for helping to support an 37 Park Facilities & Amenities amazing park district that we can all be proud of.
