Community Services In This Issue... Staff Spotlight Upcoming Special Events I have lived in Temecula since 1998 and growing up Summer Concert Series 4 in this community, I never pictured myself working for Movies in the Park 5 the City, but after nine years, I can’t imagine working 4th of July Fireworks 5 anywhere else. While pursuing my Bachelor’s in Art off the Walls 6 Sociology at California State University San Marcos, I decided to apply for an internship at the City of September 11th Rememberance 6 Temecula with the Human Services division. I thought FIT Fun Color Run 6 it would be a good stepping stone as I followed my Ralph Love Plein Air Competition 6 childhood dream of becoming a Social Worker. Six Patriotic Salute to Veterans 7 Tracy Courts months of interning led me to a part-time job as a Halloween Home Decorating Contest 7 CS Coordinator I Recreation Assistant for the Special Events team. Halloween Carnival 7 Little did I know, I would discover my passion for event planning and make a career out of it. I look forward to coordinating annual events for the community to Specialized Programs enjoy such as Movies in the Park, Halloween Carnival and Santa’s Electric Light Adopt a Park Program 35 Parade, and building relationships with the families who attend year after year. Around & About Temecula 38 Measure S Improvements 34,38 As a City of Temecula employee for over 8 years I Responsible Compassion Program 38 am proud and grateful to be part of the Community Senior Programs, Classes & Events 28 Services team. When I moved to Temecula in 2011 Special Needs Events & Programs 22 with my husband and step daughter, I was determined to find employment within this great city. With 20 years Sports Leagues 32 of preschool teaching experience and an AA degree in early child development I was able reach my goal Camps & Classes and became employed at Pennypickle’s Workshop- Camps 8-11 Temecula Children’s Museum and have now worked Performing Arts 16-17 my way to Management Aide II at the Temecula Valley michelle Elrod Preschool Enrichment 12 Museum. Currently, I assist with museum operations, Management Aide II Special Interest 22 staff and volunteer coordination, tours, history projects, and the gift shop. I Sports & Fitness 18-21 am grateful and honored to be given the opportunity to live in and serve the Visual Arts 23 community of Temecula. I invite you to come and check out the Temecula Valley Youth & Teen Enrichment 13-15 Museum for either an exhibit viewing, Second Saturday Celebration of Culture event or a historical walking tour of Old Town Temecula. I joined the Community Services Team Picnic Shelters 35 in 2017 as a part of the homeless outreach division. Prior to my time with the City I worked for non profits Temecula Skate Park 33 including Habitat for Humanity and United Cerebral Palsy and I studied business Temecula Valley Museum 26-27 administration at Santiago Canyon College. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, Trails & Bikeways 33 reading, writing, cooking, movies, music, and spending as much time as I possibly can with my family.
