Winter Retreat Information I am excited to announce that our Youth Group will be going on a weekend retreat to Camp of the Woods Retreat Center in Speculator, New York from January 14, 2022 until January 16, 2022. The weekend is going to be filled with worship, Bible study lessons, fellowship, and lots of fun. I’ve put together 4 Bible study sessions for the weekend, which fall under the weekend’s theme of “Broken but Not Destroyed.” One of my desires as the Youth Pastor is to see each of the students grow to spiritual maturity. This isn’t easy when we face the struggles and difficulties of everyday life. As we look at 2 Corinthians chapter 4, we will understand more fully the power of Christ to mend the broken. Through the power of Christ in us, when we are opposed, we aren’t abandoned and when we feel struck down, we aren’t destroyed. Our goal is to always demonstrate His power and presence at work in us. In order to find the best information about this retreat center, you can go to camp- of-the-woods.org. There you will find information about the camp such as: lodging, dining, indoor/outdoor activities, amenities, etc. There are a few pages in this packet that I’d like to especially bring to your attention. One of them is the “Itinerary” Page. Here you will find information about what will be taking place each day at Camp. Second is the “What to Bring” page. Here you will find helpful information about what your child should and should not bring on the trip. Lastly, toward the end of this packet you will find a permission slip, medical release form, code of conduct form, and an activity waiver form that must be signed and returned to me along with your payment. If your child plans on attending the Winter Retreat: - They must sign up by Friday, December 17th. After 12/17 it will be too late - A nonrefundable deposit in the amount of $100 is due by 12/17. - Hand in forms (Permission Slip, Medical Release, Code of Conduct, and Camp Activity Waiver) by January 1st 2022 - The total cost of the Retreat is $210. The remaining $110 is due by January 1st 2022. For all payments (deposit and final payment) you can make a check to Fardale Trinity Church and on the memo line include that the check is for the Youth Winter Retreat. In Christ, Michael Byrne
What to Bring/Not Bring The purpose of our youth group is to provide a place for your child to come every week where they can glorify God, fellowship with other people, worship Him, and learn more about Him. The purpose of this retreat is very similar to what we desire to accomplish on a weekly basis. A retreat is a great time to get away, refresh ourselves in the Lord, focus on Him, and have fun. A lot of times it’s a place where young people put their trust in Jesus for the first time, rededicate their lives to Him, or recognize areas in their lives where they need to change. My prayer is that through this time away, at least one of these purposes will be met in your child’s life. Camp of the Woods Retreat Center is a well-known Christian Camp and its located in the Adirondack Mountains. Because we are going up state New York, it is important that your child brings clothes for weather that is much colder and snowier than here. Anything your child will need for sleeping will be provided for by Camp of the Woods (pillows, blankets, sheets, etc.). The rooms have baths/showers, heat/AC, 2 sets of beds, and a cot. *Boys and girls will not be rooming together. Here is a list of suggested items for your child to bring on the trip: - Bible for lessons (mandatory) - Bagged lunch for the ride to the camp on Friday evening - Any and all cosmetics (shampoo, soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, etc.) - Warm winter clothes - Snow clothes for snow tubing - Winter boots - Knock around clothes for the gym - Board Games (if wanted) - Money for souvenirs or other things that the camp doesn’t give out for free *Please notify me of any medication that needs to be sent with your child, if any. Because this is a weekend where we want the kids to keep their primary focus on God and connecting with each other, we ask that you would be diligent in making sure your child doesn’t bring the following items: Here is a list of what NOT to bring: - Ipad, game device, or any other “anti-social” devices - Cell Phones (limited use) *If your child needs to be reached at any point during the trip you can call 201-625- 2592. Please limit these calls to emergency only.
