FALL 2019 NEWSLETTER WHITLEY COUNTY 4-H 4275 N HWY 25 W - WILLIAMSBURG, KY 40769 - (606) 549-1430 IN THIS ISSUE What a busy Summer! Whitley SPOOKTACULAR PUMPKIN County has had some great PAINTING PARTY accomplishments over the past PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST couple months. 108 campers HALLOWEEN SAFETY attended JM Feltner Memorial in BIKE RODEO London, KY for 4-H Summer Camp. FAMILY CHRISTMAS Top right, Allison and Shelby Modica ORNAMENTS participated in the Country Ham 2020 COUNTRY HAM PROJECT program. They learned how to cure a CLOVERBUD ACTIVITY SHEETS country ham over the last 8 months, UPCOMING CLUBS and performed a speech at the Kentucky State Fair. Right middle, Sophia Harris won the Grand Champion Award at the Kentucky State Fair for her colored pencil drawing. Bottom right, students throughout the schools worked on a butterfly project where caterpillars were raised in the classroom while learning about the butterfly lifecycle and set more than 100 butterflies into the county in May.

Join us for a fun night of Pumpkin Painting! Costumes are optional but encouraged! Pumpkins will be provided! (only for paintng) Spooky snacks and refreshments will be provided. Music and More! OCTOBER 31, 2019 H LLOWEEN Safety Tips for Trick-o-Treating! Plan your trick-or-treating route before you go with the whole family. Make sure masks are checked so kids can see clearly. Use reflective tape on dark costumes. Only visit houses with porch lights on. Make sure kids know that under NO circumstances should they enter a home. If your child has an identification card, (school ID's etc.) make sure to bring it along. Make sure an adult is with anyone under 16 (if older kids are going in a group, set a time for them to be home, or follow them at a safe, but not embarrassing distance.) Remind your kids to stay out of the street! Be on the lookout for cars when crossing, they might not see you! Check all candy and treats before eating! Have Fun!
FAMILY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS Saturday December 7, 2019 1:00PM-4:00PM Registration begins Monday, November 25, 2019 Join us at the Fine Arts Center as we create Family Christmas Ornaments! One of the mediums we will be using is polymer clay. Polymer Clay is plastic, but until it is cured, it is a very malleable plastic. It can be shaped and reshaped a multitude of times without deterioration. After designing our clay, you will bake it, (at home) in the oven at a low temperature until it hardens and is permanent. This event is FREE and is limited to only 30 people! So call and reserve your spot on November 25, 2019! Questions or to register (No earlier than November 25th) please call (606) 549-1430.
