FEB C O N ST R U C T I O N update 2018 SAN JOAQUIN RIVER VIDUCT |FRESNO Workers are making good progress installing the decking on the per- gola section of the San Joaquin River Viaduct. The viaduct will carry high-speed trains over the San Joaquin River and existing freight tracks, forming one of the largest structures on this first phase of high-speed rail construction. Closer to the river, support pier construction is nearly complete for the section of the viaduct that will carry trains over the Fresno/Madera County line, while pier caps are being formed and poured tying the piers together. The last of the pergola pre-cast girders were set recently which was a major highlight for the team. TUL ARE STREET UNDERPASS DOWNTOWN FRESNO Work continues on an undercrossing for Tulare Street between G and H streets in downtown Fresno. Crews are constructing the substructure walls for the crossing that will take Tulare Street traffic under high-speed and existing freight rail lines. A later phase of construction will build a new bridge for G Street traffic to cross over Tulare as it goes below grade. A similar undercrossing and G Street bridge will be constructed at Ventura Street later this spring. BUILDHSR.COM

On Dry Creek Canal, crews have demolished a section of the old canal and graded the site. The canal improvements are included in Fresno Trench construction, as the canal will eventually cross over the trench. Crews are working quickly to form the invert (bottom) and walls of the box culvert. Canal work has a limited work period due to the irrigation season.
