NEWS 17th July 2020 Dear Parents and Children, This is the final newsletter from the Sycamore Team. We want to wish you a peaceful and positive break. Take some time out to recuperate and recharge. The school quote, saying, motto throughout this time has been the following…. “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning how to dance in the rain”. This is really about resilience and change. Something you know a little about being Parents of our beautiful Sycamore children. We have talked about many themes for inspiration, aspiration and learning over the last months. Our last thought is this ‘LOVE’. Whether you are religious or not the teachings on love feature in a big way for most of us– in every poem, song, story, film ever written; in the lack of it or the huge amounts of it that we receive. It comes in different packages and boxes and is expressed in many ways in different cultures. I would like to think in terms of the child however it is simple. Acceptance. When we are acknowledged for who we are and accepted for who we are we have a great foundation to work from. I hope that you will all have lots of time to show and express that love towards each other and for each other over the coming weeks. We say our fond farewells to our Year Six children, Kieran, Joseph, Maria and Thaisharn. It has been an absolute privilege to have taught you and learned from you. Kieran we will always miss your ability to come back and try again and your pleasant company on 1:1 chats and caring for us if we look a bit down; Maria’s gentle ways and infectious positivity towards her learning and Sycamore family, Joseph’s ability to tell you his heart and feelings and his smart dressing style and Thaisharn’s warmth and amazing ability to visualise. We know you all have a sense of humour! We wish you all the success in the world! And we welcome our new pupils Michaella, Keyanna and Lily who are going to join our ‘bubble’ in September! Lastly, I want to thank you all for your cooperation, consideration, and communication in supporting our children. We will be waiting for you at the gate with our hearts wide open and a huge smile. With warmth and affection Mrs Buskell and all the Team.
Please see the following notices, procedures, and rules for September. Please follow the advice and guidelines to keep the community safe. We would also like you to do certain things to get the children ready, as well as do their Summer studies in the six-week break. SCHOOL STARTS ON: MONDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 2020 BETWEEN 8.30AMAND 9AM (please see school info) PLEASE DROP YOUR CHILD AT THE FRONT OFFICE AT LONG LANE, (RECEPTION DOOR) KEEPING TO DISTANCE GUIDELINES. SCHOOL FINISHES: AT 3.15pm. PICK UP AT PAGODA (UPPER LEFT CORNER) near NURSERY ENTRANCE IN THE LOWER PLAYGROUND (BEHIND THE SCHOOL). PLEASE FOLLOW DISTANCING GUIDELINES. Please prepare your child by explaining the following….
What is a School ‘Bubble’? When we go back to school my teacher said I will be in a Bubble. This is strange – but it does not mean a real bubble. At school we are going to stay in the same small group of people all through the school day. We are going to stay together to work, play and eat our snacks and lunch. We will use the same toilets and sink as the people in our group. They have called it a ‘Bubble’ because we are being protected by not doing things with other groups. (Like being inside a Bubble – even though we are not in a real bubble!) It is good to remember that washing our hands, staying apart from other ‘bubbles’ of children and not touching our face are good ways to keep us all safe. Well done me! I am brilliant.
SYCAMORE CLASS The children will initially remain in their Sycamore Bubble and work at individual stations with their own packs and equipment. If they do movement or group-work, they will have their own spot! Some teachers may wear PPE. There will be transparent screens for working 1:1. Please prepare them. They will not be able to walk over to other children ☹ The school is doing a Recovery Curriculum and introducing new schemes of work including Zones of Regulation. We have also ordered equipment for Sensory small play at their station. A Sensory room will also be available. Please see the following: Sample Timetable for September. Uniform PE

UNIFORM Years N to Year 3: return in full uniform (black trousers or skirt, white polo shirt with purple cardigan or jumper) Years 4-6: return in almost full uniform (black trousers or skirt, white polo shirt or shirt with black cardigan or jumper) Blazers are optional, but I would advise wearing a blazer or a jumper and not both. For now, we will not have ties. We will get our student leaders special badges to wear instead of their silver ties until we bring ties back. On your child’s PE day (you will find this out before September), your child should come into school in PE kit and then wear it for the day. This means we will not have PE kits being stored in school, and you can wash them each week. PE kit is white t shirt and black shorts / leggings / jogging trousers with a black top. Your child is welcome to wear their tops in house colours too. Children will stay in the same house as last year. Primary-aged children are exempt from wearing face masks, mainly as because not used properly, they can do more harm than good. If your child will need to wear a face-mask at school due to health reasons, please ensure that you bring in a letter from your child’s doctor so that you or your child can easily show this to adults on gates and doors who will ask children to remove them. Children are welcome to wear summer dresses until October half term. A REVIEW WILL TAKE PLACE AT HALF TERM. FIRST WEEK BACK:
