Week 7 - Term 1 18th March 2021 2020202018 Dear Parents & Caregivers, What a pleasure it was to be part of the Hiwinui School Team at the Kainui Swimming last Friday. All students did us really proud putting their heart and soul into their swimming events. Many thanks to the parents who took cars and supported the students. While we had many swimmers who took out placings we need to commend four in particular: Sophie Long won all five races in the Senior Girls’ events and was a member of the Senior Girls’ relay that won their race Lucas Allen and James Mouat who placed in all four of their events and were both members of the winning Hiwinui School Relay Team Eleanor Askin who placed in all four of her events Hadley, Madey and Oliver placed in two events and Tabs, Ned and Madison in one each. We have a team of five swimmers representing us at the Penhey Cup event this coming Monday. While this is a very different event we wish this team well. We wish our Manawanui Football team a very exciting Football Tournament at Timona Park in Feilding on Friday. Thanks to the parents who are providing transport and to Durham Mossman for coaching this team. We have enjoyed having both Manawatu Cricket and Manawatu Netball here this week coaching our students and we look forward to yet another really busy sporting week next week. The teachers proudly showed the Junior School teachers from West End School what ‘The Code’ looks like in their classrooms on Tuesday and the learning behaviours of the students and the teaching of the students was highly praised by our visitors. Yet another very proud moment for our school. Our School Zone signs are back in action thanks to the MDC. Please beware of the speed and make sure that you drive slowly into and out of the school Car Park as many families showed concern re the speed of vehicles coming into the school via our recent Survey. Please also wait until the gate-openers have moved right away from the gate before entering the Car Park. 1
