Welcome to our summer course programme As well as our regular art and crafts, languages and fitness courses, we have a host of short workshops and taster sessions to tempt you this summer. See pages 3 and 4 for details. We are also gearing up for the next academic year, with information sessions for some of our larger qualification courses that start in September. If you are looking for professional development in your current role or to move into a new career, take a look at what we can offer on pages 9 and 10. If you don’t have maths, English or IT qualifications and this is holding you back, we can help with that too, and most courses are FREE. See pages 11 and 12 for details. Go Green with our Festival of Learning! June sees the start of our Festival of Learning celebrations and the theme this year is Go Green Derbyshire to tie in with Derbyshire County Council’s campaign to get everyone doing their bit for the environment. We also want new women’s pants (especially sizes 8–14), new children’s pants (ages 3–15) and new (or lightly used) bras for Smalls for All, a ‘pant-tastic’ charity that collects and distributes underwear to women and children in Africa. Developing your career Whether you are looking for professional development in your current role or to move into a new career, our qualification and short courses could help you. Many of our longer qualification courses start in September. If you want to find out more, book onto one of our FREE information sessions this summer. Counselling The Level 2 Certificate is for those who want to learn counselling skills to help and support others in a voluntary or employed capacity, providing skills for a variety of roles. The Level 3 Diploma is for those requiring a deeper understanding of counselling. Courses will run from September 2020 at Glossop ACE Centre. Free information session: Glossop ACE Centre on Friday 03 July from 10am to 12noon Dyslexia Awareness Discover more about what Dyslexia is (and what it isn’t), how to recognise typical signs and how to effectively support learners. Nursing and Allied Health: Access to Higher Education Diploma A fast track to degree level study for those aged 19 or over. You can then apply to university to study nursing, midwifery or a health related degree. This course runs from September 2020 to June 2021, 3 days a week for 34 weeks, term time only. Computers These courses are for you if you want to develop your digital skills and knowledge further, whether you are new to computers or have a bit more confidence.
