2020 OPEN ENROLLMENT WHAT’S NEW MEDICAL Blue Cross Blue Shield will remain the Life School medical carrier for the 2020-21 plan year. Download smart phone app and register. For more information on medical visit the benefit website at www.mybenefitshub.com/lifeschoolofdallas. FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT (FSA) NEW ANNUAL MAXIMUM! Tax sheltered flexible spending accounts allow an individual to set aside dollars to pay for future health care and dependent care expenses. Eligible expenses must be incurred within the plan year (9/01/20- 8/31/21) and contributions are “use it or lose it.” Participating employees will receive a FSA MasterCard with your entire annual FSA contribution to spend throughout the entire school year. May I make new elections in future Plan Years? Yes, you may. For each new Plan Year, you may change the elections that you previously made. You may also choose not to participate in the Plan for the upcoming Plan Year. If you do not make new elections during the election period before a new Plan Year begins, we will assume you want your elections for benefits under the Plan to remain for the upcoming Plan Year. Effective 9/1/2020 Annual Maximum Contribution Limit increased to $2,750 Individual for the 2020-2021 Plan Year. If your employer has amended their Cafeteria Plan contract, your FSA can now be used towards Over the Counter costs as of 1/1/2020. Please check with your employer regarding their Cafeteria Plan contract. HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT (HSA) NEW! A Health Savings Account with EECU is a tax-advantaged medical savings account available to employees enrolled in a high-deductible health plan. You are not eligible if you have access to a Medical FSA or participate in Medicare or Tricare. Unlike flexible spending accounts (FSA), funds roll over and accumulate year to year if not spent. The Annual Maximum Contribution Limit is $3,550 Individual and $7,100 Family for the plan year 2020-2021. DENTAL NEW CARRIER AND RATES! Effective 09/01/2020 the Dental carrier will change from Beam to Lincoln Financial for both PPO and DHMO plans. INDIVIDUAL LIFE NEW! Family Protection plan with Quality of Life Rider (long term care benefits) is offered at guaranteed issue during this open enrollment. Individual insurance is a policy that covers a single person and is intended to meet the financial needs of the beneficiary, in the event of the insured’s death. This coverage is portable and can continue after you leave employment or retire. Benefit can be purchased for employees, spouse, children prior to age 23.
