CARITAS TO RELEASE ITS SEVENTH STATE OF THE ENVIRONMENT REPORT WITH AN
ONLINE WEBINAR
                                                          On Friday 2nd October, Caritas will release its annual
                                                          ‘State of the Environment for Oceania’ report
                                                          titled “Towards new horizons,” ahead of the feast
                                                          day of St Francis of Assisi on 4 October. To mark
                                                          the event, members of Caritas Oceania across the
                                                          Pacific will host an online webinar discussing how
                                                          key environmental issues have been impacting the
                                                          wellbeing of communities.

                                                          This year, the COVID-19 crisis has underscored
                                                          our mutual vulnerability, interconnectedness and
                                                          solidarity. For those already living with the climate
                                                          emergency, it has added another layer of stress and
                                                          complication.

                                                          Caritas staff and partners will discuss the impact on
                                                          people and communities of: coastal erosion and sea
                                                          level rise; food and water; extreme weather; offshore
                                                          mining and drilling; and access to climate finance.
