Program Information • Program expectations require discipline, commitment and effort from players, coaches, and parents – Build 24 strong teams through dedicated coaches providing quality instruction – Increase the level of competition for ~220 players (160 boys and 60 girls) • Competitive Philosophy – Each team was reviewed by Eastview High School Varsity coaches to determine appropriate level (A/B/C) for tournament play – Team results are monitored throughout the season to maintain competitive alignment – Team goal is to be competitive while upholding the highest level of sportsmanship – Player goal is to improve each practice and game throughout the season – Coaches will promote player development through 8 minute minimum per player per game 4
Program Information • Season runs October through early March where teams compete in 9 weekend tournaments – Many tournaments have moved to “no gate fee” however some may charge $5- 10/person for entry – State Tournament – build up of the entire year, work towards a team goal • Practice is where player and team will improve the most; critical for continued development – 2-3 times per week (date/time/location depends on facility availability) – Weeknights between 5:30-9:00pm and weekends between 8am-4pm for 1-1.5 hours – Please notify coaches as soon as possible if your child will miss practice 5
Program Information • Uniforms and Practice Jerseys – Please take care of the uniforms (new last year) and practice jerseys (wash in cold water and line dry) • Only wear uniforms for tournaments and wear practice jerseys for practice • Return in great shape at the end of the season to avoid any additional fees – Players shooting/warm-up shirts will arrive with the first logo wear order – Thank you for encouraging kids to make their uniforms work – We can usually size kids up but currently we don't have smaller uniforms available • Scheduling Practice and Games – Encouraging all team managers to use Sports Engine for scheduling this year • Logo Wear – Basketball online store was open for 2 weeks in September; will open again in mid- to-late October – NEW! Eastview online store featuring apparel and accessories open year-round 6
Sportsmanship • Good sportsmanship is one of our top priorities – coaches, players, and parents should demonstrate good sportsmanship towards referees as well as coaches, players and parents of opposing teams • Our Code of Conduct governs all Coach, Player and Parent behavior and should be reviewed periodically – All coaches, players, and parents have signed these as part of our registration process – All three were updated based on feedback from our end of year survey and experience from last year • Please utilize the “24-hour rule” to address any issues with coaches after practices or games 7
Tournaments: Eastview Sponsored • Tournaments are the largest fundraisers for our program – Boys Tournament: November 12th-13th, 2022 – Girls Tournament: January 7th-8th, 2023 • In order to keep program costs down and our tournaments running smoothly, each family is required to do 2 DIBS credits (~3 hours per credit) per child in the program (e.g. 3 children in the program = 6 credits) • You have 4 days over 2 weekends to complete your DIBS credits – Tournaments are 1 day; meaning your child only plays Saturday or Sunday and allows for you to volunteer on the day your child does not play • DIBSs will open when you receive an email telling you to sign-up through Eastview Athletic Association – All position descriptions will be available on the website so please read through them thoroughly prior to signing up so you understand what is required of each position – For the Boys’ Tournament, Girls’ families will have first pass at DIBs positions and vice versa (Boys’ families have first pass for the Girls’ Tournament) – If you know ahead of time that you will not be completing your DIBs, please inform us so we find or pay others to fill those credits • DIBs credits can only be fulfilled through our Eastview Basketball Tournaments • Failure to complete all credits (or not fulfilling shift duties) will result in a charge of $300 ($500 per family) 8
