Payment is made by check combined with membership dues as noted above. The winning amounts are based on the number of participants in the pool. Please note further below the exceptions regarding handicaps. • Please wear your name tag! For new members, Jan Gehrman will have your name tag ready for you to pick up at the Golf Shop. • All golfers should understand the Rules of Golf. • All play will be from the ‘Aqua’ tees for both weekly events and tournaments. • All putts must be holed out at all times. • Many of our members meet for an optional lunch in the lounge starting at 12:00 each week before golf. After golf, we meet on the patio outside of the dining room for drinks and announcements. It’s a wonderful time to meet members and chat in a relaxed environment. • Everyone is expected to arrive at their cart by 1:30 to be ready for game-day instructions shortly thereafter with a shotgun start promptly at 2:00. Our goal is a 2-hour round so that we all are back at the club’s patio area for a time of social gathering afterwards for league announcements, and for that day’s winner announcements. • For the Classy Niners Member/Guest Tournament, the Guest cannot be a Classics member. • For the Classy Niners Member/Member Tournament, both members MUST be paid members of the Classy Niners. Member/Member does NOT mean any member of our Club. • Pairings and flights will be made by the Golf Shop for all events (Weekly Play and Closing Day and GM Tournaments), except for the Member/Member and Member/Guest Tournaments. Pairings are computer generated. Special requests for pairings WILL NOT be accepted or permitted. • When playing in the Member/Member and Member/Guest Tournaments, the Golf Shop will determine the mix of each team (2 players) with other team players based on handicaps in order to keep appropriate ‘pace of play’ at all times as well as fairness for prizes. • Prizes for Weekly Play and Tournaments will be a credit from the Classics Golf Shop. An exception would be for the Guest in the Member/Guest Tournament as other gifts may be given out per the Tournament Committee. • We will continue for a second season: ‘Most Improved Player’ for The Classy Niners beginning with Opening Day in November through the last event in March. One member of our league will be chosen based on their handicap improvement, (based on GHIN posted scores) practice time, her game of golf and all-around player. The decision will be made by the Pro Shop. The announcement of the winner will be made at the Closing Day Tournament Party/Annual Meeting in April. To qualify you must submit your scores into GHIN on a regular basis. • The Golf Results for weekly golf and tournaments will be posted on the Website each week (see the Document Section). Also, a list of the winners will be posted on the Bulletin Board in the women’s locker room. • For any questions you may have regarding Tournaments, please contact Maryann Brink, Tournament Director at: brink214@aol.com
HANDICAPS • There is no minimum or maximum handicap to play with the Classy Niners. • Classics members joining the league will need an ‘official’ full USGA handicap OR be working towards completing the necessary postings using GHIN. • If you are registered using GHIN in a state other than Florida, or a country other than the USA, this is acceptable as the system is worldwide. • If you do not have a GHIN number, the Golf Shop will be happy to help you register and walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have. (This is provided with your membership.) You can post your scores in the Golf Shop, women’s locker room and on the GHIN app on your phone! • It is recommended that every member posts her score by using GHIN each time she plays golf (good or bad - with the exception of scrambles and other group play games. And depending on the game). After a member’s GHIN number has been activated, every round she plays, whether at the Classics or any other course, must have a true score posted in the computer so an accurate Handicap Index can be determined. Consistently posting both good and bad scores is all a part of the “integrity” of golf. • The purpose of having a handicap makes for fair play when playing in a league. It helps the Golf Shop pair you with a similar partner not to mention helps when trying to balance foursomes having a wide range of skills. It helps with Pace of Play and learning more about the game of Golf. Having a handicap can accommodate people of all levels while keeping the game FUN. INTERCLUB INVITATIONALS • Arlene Murphy. Vice President, chairs these events. When the seasonal details are updated, they will be put on the website and our bulletin board for reference. The women who have played in the Invitationals have previously said, “The events are a lot of fun and a chance to play at other golf clubs with some wonderful women.” CHARITIES • Again this season, we plan to support the Lely Elementary School. Please watch for further details on how you can support this hugely worthwhile endeavor on our Website during October. • During our Closing Day Event in April local charity contributions from our league will be announced.
COMMUNICATIONS • Communications for The Classy Niners will be done through our website: www.classyniners.com You will be able to sign up for weekly golf and tournaments and find copies of our by-laws, membership information, rules, etc. Be sure to check periodically as information is added regularly. • The documents listed in the Document section of the Classy Niners Website, are meant to be informative for the league and act as reference.
