LinkedIn is a web-based business tool and rather large database that connects users to employment and business opportunities, professional associations and skills development. It’s a great place to build enriching relationships. This tool can be used to build your brand, thought and expertise. It is the largest professional network. LinkedIn as a First Introduction Before the meeting • Before that initial meeting, your LinkedIn profile will provide a lot of information about you. • It tells a story of your journey. • Your profile communicates your values and interest. • Provides a sampling of your writing skills. • Communicates civic engagement and volunteerism. • What to expect from you if hired or engaged. How you present yourself is important! 2

Discuss how you helped solve problems. • Education – Include your degree(s), certifications, and any clubs or groups while in school. • Skills & Endorsements – Please include soft and hard skills.
