Be in the moment. Go live. 2020 will be a watershed year for live over-the-top video streaming. The combination of audience migration from traditional cable and satellite to connected TV streaming services, complemented by the depth of major media events, means that audience sizes are set to be bigger and more engaged than ever. Being live and in the moment has never been more important for brands and advertisers. In addition to annual marquee events, the 2020 calendar includes: • Political debates and the presidential election (every four years) • The Summer Olympics (every four years) • The Ryder Cup (every two years) • UEFA Euro 2020 Soccer Championship (every four years) Streaming subscription services are up, the number of ways people can stream is up, and live video viewership is up in terms of audience size and time spent. How are people watching live events? • Most (60%) live-streaming viewership occurs outside of social media sites • Sports fans are hungry for streams.
