About the Training Support Programme COVID-19 has brought about many challenges, especially to fresh graduates.* NAFA is therefore offering all of you the opportunity to sign up for Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses with a nominal administration fee. The courses have been selected to enhance your skill sets and improve your employability. Three specially designed 12-hour courses will be offered in May and June 2021. How to Work as a Freelancer, How to Take Better Photos for Instagram and How to Create and Edit Sound for Digital Media Platforms, will be accessible with an administrative fee of $20. From June to November 2021, you will have the opportunity to take selected Short and Certificate courses with an administrative fee of $50 or $80. How to Work as a Freelancer This course is designed to help learners improve on their soft and hard skills to be a better freelancer. Learners will pick up the fundamentals of time management and professional conduct, how to navigate difficult subjects such as money and contracts as well as grow a network for themselves. This course is recommended for all young creatives who are looking to carve out a path for themselves through freelancing.

Lecturer Pixie Tan A multidisciplinary designer, Pixie Tan has art directed projects in both London and Singapore. Her work range from kinetic installations for Street of Clans Festival 2019 (Singapore Design Week 2019) to a guidebook for creative workers "The Precariat Self Help Handbook”, commissioned for London Design Festival 2019. Currently, she wears many hats as a design educator at LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore as well as working full time and freelancing as an Art Director. Her interest in creative labour has also led her to become a member of the collective, Don’t Mind If, researching on the wellbeing of Singapore’s Communication Design Industry and Community.
How to take better photos for instagram This course aims to equip creatives with photography skills to present themselves effectively in building a memorable personal brand on Instagram. Participants will learn and apply fundamental photography techniques on their mobile phones to enhance their Instagram photos. In addition, participants will learn to understand and apply their personal style in image creation. This course is highly recommended for novice Instagram users with little or no photography background.

Lecturer Wesley Loh Wesley’s encounter with the world of photography at the age of 18 started a journey of self-discovery, beauty and truth. As a photographer and storyteller, he is trademarked by his unique style and personable approach. With each image that he makes, Wesley delves into the life hidden by the facade of the human face and peels away the layers to reach its essence. Yet, in all of this, Wesley remains dedicated to fulfilling his first love – that of using his art to help others see what he sees best – the truth. Having recently moved his operations back to Singapore from Paris, Wesley currently runs Memphis West Pictures.
How to create and edit sound for digital media platforms This course equips learners with fundamental skills in sound recording and editing for digital media platforms. Learners will learn how to capture quality sounds, apply appropriate microphone techniques and set up equipment for digital audio recording. Additionally, learners will be introduced to audio software and learn how to edit, mix and master recorded tracks. They will also learn about audio files management and copyright for digital platforms.

Lecturer Kong Shih Leng, Janielyn Janielyn is a professional in the audio industry and an enthusiast of music, technology and the creative arts. She has extensive experience in events management and sound production for creative media. Having graduated with an honours degree in Recording Arts from the Middlesex University of London, United Kingdom, she is also a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and a certified professional in music production application Apple Logic X. Janielyn holds a WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) from the Institute for Adult Learning Singapore. She is an adjunct lecturer with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), specialising in Audio Post- Production, Audio Engineering in Live Sound, Digital Music and Sound Design and Video Editing. She has also lectured in other institutions, such as Chatsworth Media Academy, SAE Technology College, and Secondary schools.
