GOLF COURSES RACV ROYAL PINES RACV Royal Pines Resort is located just minutes from the Gold Coast’s famous beaches and features a 27- hole championship golf course. With tight fairways, undulating greens and strategically placed bunkers, each 18-hole combination has its own distinctive challenges that requires a unique skill set in order to have a successful round. RACV Royal Pines Resort is the current host of the Australian PGA Championship and was the long-time host of the Australian Ladies Masters.
BROOKWATER Brookwater’s redesigned course with improved playability and sustainability is without a doubt Queensland’s finest golf experience. The spectacular Greg Norman designed championship golf course meanders its way through naturally undulating Australian bushland, with signature bunkering and superb use of natural waterways. The recent renovations included the strategic redesign of greens, fairways and bunkers. The scope of works was also aimed at returning the course to its original design through widening playing corridors and resurfacing and renovating green complexes. Whilst Brookwater remains a challenging course, the changes have made it one that golfers will want to come back and play regularly. From seasoned pros to everyday enthusiasts, the captivating course offers something for any type of player.
KOORALBYN VALLEY The 18-hole championship golf course at Kooralbyn Valley opened for play in October 1979 and in two years was chosen to host the 1981 Queensland Open – a fitting tribute to its superb layout. The first golf resort built in Queensland, with Greg Norman as its touring professional, it is now the golfing holiday destination for tens of thousands of keen golfers every year from Australia and overseas. ‘Kooralbyn’ is the Aboriginal name of ‘Copperhead’. Famous for its Copperhead Challenge, the inland championship course with contrasting nines is just a short drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The front nine winds through natural valleys and watercourses, whilst the back nine flirts with 10 hectares of lakes in the valley basin. The wildlife is abundant, with hundreds of kangaroos feeding on a daily basis.
PALMER COLONIAL Palmer Colonial was originally built by Nara Australia Pty Ltd. In 1992 the course opened as Paradise Springs Golf Course. Designed by Mitsuaki Kobayashi, the course boasts beautifully groomed fairways and meticulously manicured greens, widely regarded as being in the best condition on the Gold Coast. The distinguishing feature is of the clubhouse, with its Colonial, Queenslander design. A farmland once home to cows, weeds, and bush has been transformed into a beautifully groomed course with lush fairways and lovely greens. The 6424-metre par 72 championship resort layout meanders its way through 39 hectares of towering eucalyptus, picturesque lakes and serene waterways. Flowering native and exotic trees and plants abound, while ornate bridges cross watercourses in which luxuriant lilies jostle for space.
