ICF Marathon World Championships Juniors, Under 23 & Seniors 21th –23th September 2012 Rome - Italy Dear Sport Friends It is with great honor and sincere pleasure to send you this invitation regarding the Marathon World Championships for Juniors, Under 23 and Seniors to be held from 21th to 23th September in Rome, in agreement with the ICF Official Calendar. On 19 and 20th September 2012 the Masters World will take place. 1. Venue The Marathon World Championships event will take place on the River Tiber, in Rome. Rome is located approximately in the middle of the Italian peninsula and therefore it is easily reachable either from the north or from the south of the country. The capital is well connected to the rest of Italy and the world, thanks to the two airports and the excellent highway and train systems. Organising Committee Marathon ICF World Championships
3. Provisional Course The marathon race of the World Championships will take place on the River Tiber. The start and finish line and the portage will be in the same area. There will be two turning points all marked with five small red buoys. The Start will be a held start, and the first 1450 mtr. will be straight to turning point 1. From the last turning point (2) to the finish line will be 700 mtr. All around the course the depth of the water will be at least 3 metres. A 70 metres portage is placed on the bank of the river near the finish line. The portage areas are clearly shown by guide ropes and marked with red and yellow marks at the disembarkation and embarkation places. The disembarkation will be on pontoons, and the embarkation from the bank. 7. Boat Transportation Countries which are not members of the European Union are kindly requested to contact their Chamber of Commerce or Custom Office to obtain the appropriate information regarding the necessary documents for boats transportation. The O.C. can provide full assistance if contacted in due time. 8. Visa Participants from those countries where a Visa is required will receive upon request a letter from the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation once their participation is confirmed. All participants from non “Schengen Treaty” State Members are kindly requested to contact their local Italian Embassy for assistance. The O.C. can provide full assistance if contacted in due time. 9. Insurance All participants are strongly advised to have an appropriate medical insurance from their respective countries. 10. Medical Services A First Aid and Emergency Medical Service will be available at Rome Regatta Course from 18th to 23th of September 2012 . A Hospital in Rome (10 minutes by car from the regatta course) will be on stand during the competition in order to cover any specific need . 11. Boat Rental The O.C. has reached an agreement with Nelo – MAR Kayaks Portugal for boat rental.
