REVELS AT REHEARSAL 2018 Chairman’s WELCOME Chairman’s Report 2018 Fifty-five consecutive years, one of the longest-running variety shows in the country. This makes me reflect on how we are still going, a strong, local, mostly voluntary group of people. Year on year people keep turning up to be part of this Society, and we still have a strong, loyal, growing audience. For many reasons we lose people who we were delighted to have as part of our Society, and who contributed so much in all areas. These people are missed very much and are fondly remembered especially at this time. Any former members interested in coming back are always welcome. I feel, though, that our very young adults - those who have sat their Leaving Certificate and started college won’t be back, at least for the foreseeable future. A lot of our young people have moved to the four corners of the world and this, we are glad to say, is through choice, a sense of adventure and new experience rather than out of necessity. These young people, who sang, danced, acted and helped in all areas of production, have now the confidence to go and discover what is happening outside their own rural community. They are not confined by parish boundaries, and are bringing with them what they learned not only at home and in their local schools but, I hope, what they also gained by being part of The Revels. This year we are so delighted to have one of our own back in the position of Musical Director & Producer - Tina Price Lynch. Tina’s first major comeback to The Revels was in 2016 with a choral performance entitled IL DIVA produced and directed by Tina herself. She is ably assisted by her equally talented husband Adam as choreographer. Between them and their committed group we know this year’s show will be another to remember. Finally, I would like to thank all of our hard-working team, our audiences and our sponsors for their ongoing loyalty and support. Sit back and enjoy our 2018 production. Sincerely, JJ Price, Chairman 2018
