Friday February 12th 2021 Thought of the Week "Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later." - Og Mandino Virtue of the Week This week’s virtue is the second of our 5Rs, responsibility. We encourage every Parkhurst State School learner to take the lead, be safe and show initiative. Being responsible means that others can depend on us. When we are responsible, we are willing to be accountable for our actions and we keep to our agreements, giving our very best to every task. When things go wrong and we make mistakes, we make amends instead of excuses. Being responsible is also being a leader, being safe and responding ably in any situation that arises. Please consider taking a few minutes to discuss what it means to be responsible with your child[ren] this week. Principal’s Message Today marks the end of another great week of learning at Parkhurst State School. Every classroom is settled, in routine and are calm environments, conducive to quality learning. In 2021, our key drivers are consistency, quality, consistent quality and collaboration. In order for every Parkhurst State School learner to experience success and be successful, a quality and consistent curriculum must be delivered through quality teaching using the school’s high impact teaching strategies. It is also essential that we all maintain our focus as lifelong learners to ensure we continue to grow our capability, skills and contemporary knowledge. Working together through a range of partnerships will have a great impact on learner success, as messages, strategies and actions can become seamless between the classroom, school and home. I thank you in advance for the work you will undertake for your child[ren] with your child[ren]’s Class Teachers and others within the school throughout 2021. This week, all Classroom Teachers hosted their Parent/Carer Information Sessions. A special thank you is extended to every parent and carer who took the time to attend a session to learn about their child[ren]’s classroom routines, expectations, curriculum coverage and assessment. Please do not hesitate to contact your child[ren]’s Class Teachers if you require any addiitonal information or have specific questions. The first Parkhurst State School Parents and Citizens’ Association Meeting was held on Tuesday evening for 2021. Thank you to all those who attended. All current and prospective volunteers are reminded that they must undertake Mandatory Training before undertaking any voluntary work in the school. The training will be held at the Tuesday March 09th Meeting, including the annual Asbestos Training. A Handout is available from Administration for anyone wishing to volunteer and preread the information for the upcoming training session. Until next week, Lyle Walker PRINCIPAL
