The Woman’s Club of Pewaukee February 2021 Dear Woman’s Club Sisters, Last year I wrote – “I had a feeling after seeing the January quotes (it was hard to find a positive one) that February would also be tough... Déjà vu. … I looked for a quote that referred to both February & Valentines Day.” I love this quote so I just had to repeat in again this year. “Without Valentine’s Day, February would be … well, January.” Jim Gaffigan “ I just completed the GFWC-WI 2020 Report. We accomplished so much in 2020 – even in the face of the COVID pandemic. Its impact was present throughout. I want everyone to know how proud I was of all of you as I worked on the report. We truly accomplished a great deal in spite of COVID. Here are some of the high points: • January Glass Cutting Event Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service – Women in the Military Cloth Gift Bags • February Helen Farnsworth Mears Annual Blood Drive – Feb Special Drive – “Pewaukee School Snack Program” • April/May Accomplished electing officers and the distribution of funds - via emails & lots of support • July Many members attended the Rolling Hills District Meeting • August “Girl’s Afternoon at the Lake” • September MEETINGS RESTARTED! • October GFWC-WI Workshop Positively Pewaukee’s Annual Halloween Fun Fest “Birthday Bash in a Bag” – birth of new membership meeting project PLUS ▪ Members volunteered personal time for COVID-related needs (masks, reaching out to confined members, etc.) ▪ Members volunteered personal time for elections - COVID-fueled fear creating a need for election To our Program, Project, and Committee Chairs & Co-Chairs, our Hostesses, the Raffle Team, Pat Gallagher for always assisting at the sign-in table, and of course to my incredible Board of Directors -- THANK YOU ALL! MEMBER NEWS February Birthdays Ruth Harken Mary Hertel Alexandra Lerch-Gaggl The Woman’s Club of Pewaukee Needs NEW LEADERS! This May, we will be voting for a Vice-President. The Vice-President automatically becomes President in two years. That can be scary – I know! But the President is never alone. You’ll have an incredibly dedicated and working Board, including a past president. Current Board members are at an age where it is time to pass on our roles to the next generation. The Vice-President does not have to have prior Board experience. If you have any questions or want to talk, please call me or any member of the Board. Our names and contact information are in the Membership Directory. To continue as a Club, we must have top leadership in place! Last Month’s Baby Shower” As part of our GFWC-WI Civic Engagement and Outreach Program, and in the midst of the COVID crisis, we sponsored a donation drive for babies and toddlers up to 2 years old. It was a huge success! The baby shower drive was suggested by member Christine Nevinski. She was so moved by the outpouring of support that she contacted Fox 6 News – Community Connection. On January 28th, Christine, Ginny Lockman, Carole Brinkman, and I delivered the donations to Care Net Pregnancy Center. A representative from Milwaukee Birthright, Inc, met us there to pick up their items. Donations for Hope Center in Waukesha were dropped off later in the afternoon. AND – Fox6 joined us at Care Net. I missed it but we were on the 5:00 Fox News program that afternoon. Maybe you saw us? THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED TO THIS GREAT EVENT!
