President’s Message Hello TVS Members, Last night we had the Reverse Raffle which is a fund raiser for the Little Light House. I am always amazed at the generosity of all our TVS members. There were over 100 members there and together we raised $5,112.00 for the Little Light House. There are so many people to thank first of all is each and every one that bought a ticket and participated in the evening’s activities. All the people that donated gift baskets, brought appetizers or desserts (they were all so yummy) and those that stayed afterwards to help clean up. Mike & Cheryl Ashley and the charity committee (Orville and Louise Adair, Rick and Sherri Vaughan, Nancy Orr, Bob Liles, Ed & Pam Walden and Colleen Hayes) did an amazing job putting together this event, from the decorations, food prep, cooking of all the food the list could go on and on. Mike Ashley and his band did an awesome job. As I walked around the room as everyone was arriving and getting their appetizers I could see people singing along and even a little dancing. Billy Hayes did an outstanding job as the MC for the evening. Everyone was entertained by his witty sense of humor. Steve Plummer worked the computer so we could all keep track of how many tickets were left and Scott Klein set it all up beforehand. And of course there is Curtis Orr he does not stop working from the time he arrives till the time he leaves. He sets up the drink table and all night you will see him running back and forth to make sure everything is continuously full. He stays afterwards and washes dishes till the last pot is cleaned. If I have left anyone out I am so sorry and please know it was not intentional. Please be sure and join us February 6th for the business meeting. At this meeting we will be presenting the donation check to the Little Light House for the funds that were raised in 2017. There will be staff from the LLH there along with a few of the LLH families. Rex Jones has prepared a video of their Christmas party that will also be played at the meeting. There usually are a few tears during this meeting so a Kleenex is always a good idea. Bob and I are so very blessed to be a part of this club, and to call each and every one of you are friends. TVS MEMBERS ROCK Terri Liles February 2018 The Vette Gazette Page 3

Save the Wave… You may have heard that expression, but what does it mean? It’s the tradition of waving at a fellow Corvette owner giving them recognition, what a good looking ride you’ve got there, nice color/ wheels/… what ever it may be, just wave! The wave is held as a way to say to another “I’ve got your back…., respect is given, you’ve made it, or just so say hello”. No one knows for sure when it first started but one can imagine that the first time was shortly after June 29, 1953.( the first day they rolled off the assembly line) Because after the second one was sold and they past each other, I can only guess they both reacted in a, “Hey… I’ve got one too…WAY TO GO!” And from that day on the tradition was born of waving to your fellow brothers & sisters in Corvette ownership. I’ve only really seen one other group give the recognition to another continually and that’s motorcycle riders. They always give a nod, wave or other action for fellow bikers. Whether it’s a out the window wave, the two fingers off the steering wheel quick peace sign blip, hand flat towards the windshield motionless wave, with or with out the head nod option on any of the above, to even the slight vertical nod… which is the quick upsweep of the head ½ to 1 inch only…. Otherwise you’ll only look like your sneezing… Be sure to Wave to another corvette while you’re in your metal car too. You can get some funny looks from the Corvette people then… Although it’s equally important to get a wave back, give them their wave, and give them the benefit of doubt that they saw you. Bottom line, just wave. It’s our thing, keep it alive. Save the Wave… Mike Bennett February 2018 The Vette Gazette Page 5

TECH TIME Normally when you hear the word tech you think of Tech Day at Claver’s Garage. This Tech event is going to be different. With all the new technology that we use to stay up to date with TVS events we wanted to have an event to make sure everyone is comfortable. This event will cover TVS Facebook pages, Constant Contact e mails and Zello. We will also have the Crock Pot Cook Off at this event (since there is no Super Bowl party this year) and there will be prizes. So be sure and start thinking of your favorite chili, soup or anything that you cook in a crock pot. If you do not want to bring a crock recipe please bring an appetizer or a dessert. The club will provide the side items for chili and water if you want anything else to drink please be sure and bring it (no alcohol). The event will be held at Central Tech in Sapulpa (1720 S Main St) on February 25th from 2:30 – 5:00. Hope to see everyone there Terri Liles and Steve Plummer Page 11 The Vette Gazette February 2018
