THE GODDARD SCHOOL® IS COMING SOON TO LEE’S SUMMIT (LAKEWOOD) M arch From the General Manager, Mark Reid The bid process for the 60 new boat slips that will be added to the East Lake Marina has been completed and the Board of Directors has approved Tiger Docks to be the contractor to provide and install. This new project combined with the additional docks that were added to “C” dock late last year after the dock was In This Issue replaced due to storm damage, will give us 68 total new docks to help substantially 5 Board Minutes reduce the Boat Slip waiting list. 8 Meet the Candidates The eight (8) slips on “C” dock are ready for occupancy now and the remaining 60 8 Seasonal Employment new slips are targeted for June 15, 2020 occupancy. 10 New Member Orientation 16 Artist of the Month Staff will now begin calling the names on the waiting list to see who wants a new slip and who doesn’t. While a slip on the lake is a coveted item in Lakewood, many people 22 LW Bass Tournament & have been on the wait list for 12 to 14 years and over that time circumstances may have Kids Fishing Derby changed in their lives to where the want of a boat slip is no longer a priority. For this and other reasons, we believe that 60 available spaces will shorten the list by around 100 names when all slips are leased. There is also the partnering aspect of a boat slip that allows even more of the Lakewood community to have boat access to the lakes. Please remember that only “Primary Boat Slip Lessee’s” will be given a slip lease and the relationship of partners on the boat is purely between the Primary and the partners and is not officially documented in the lease agreement. The sequence for lease agreements on the new slips will begin with the eight (8) on “C” dock. Then we will award the twelve (12) new slips on “G” dock, then the eight (8) new slips on “H” dock, then the eight (8) new slips on “I” dock and finally the 32 slips on the new “J” dock. We still must have dock space for our two (2) rental boats and two maintenance watercraft. We are evaluating a plan to refurbish and relocate the existing maintenance dock that is currently located where the new “J” dock will be installed. CALL US TODAY! As part of the Board approved 2020 Lakewood Improvements Program, once we complete the sixty new slips in Phase 1, then we will begin replacing three old docks, “D” – “F” on the East Lake under Phase 2 and we will finish the year by replacing four LEE’S SUMMIT (LAKEWOOD) • 816-293-9393 (4) old docks on the West Lake. Additionally, we have been busy installing new concrete stairs and bulkheads that will receive the six (6) new Pleasure Docks for this year.
