4th May 2021 THE NURSERY APRIL SNAPSHOT Welcome to our Nursery Newsletter Nursery & Team News We have introduced our Summer menus and have enjoyed trying the variety of new foods Kerry is cooking for us. We have included some family favourite recipes which we are sure the children will love. As the warmer weather is upon us, can we kindly ask that you apply sun cream to children before coming to nursery and provide children with a sun hat so that we can enjoy the sunshine in the garden. We do apply additional sun-cream and have spare sun-hats, but is helpful if each child can bring their own. Can parents please update us on any changes that may be taking place personally within the home environment and generally any changes to personal details, eg, telephone numbers, addresses etc. We do have a Separated Families policy if anyone would like a copy which details how we will work with families in these circumstances, please just let me know and I’ll send over to you. If you have anything you wish to discuss regarding your child’s development, updates on any recent appointments or anything that may be concerning you personally then please do get in touch, we are always available to meet and support you.
Our LFT’s are still being undertaken twice weekly by the team and some have had their first and second COVID vaccination. Our fabulous nursery baby garden is developing nicely and we can’t wait to share the finished space with the children. Room Snapshots Babies In the baby room we have enjoyed exploring lots of different fruits and vegetable tasting, including papaya, nectarines, passion fruit and butternut squash. Using a selection of fruit and paint, we also enjoyed some fabulous mark making activities, creating different prints, and discussing them. Toddlers Toddlers have been focusing on activities that help us learn about the world around us. When planting, we used our counting skills to count scoops of soil needed and then used our fine motor skills to handle the seed carefully and sow them into the soil. We have been collecting leaves, sticks and other natural objects around us to create a nature exploratory tray. The dinosaurs are also a favourite in the toddler room and Chloe created a wonderful dinosaur themed area for the children to explore too. Lower Pre-school We have had such a fun Easter in Lower Pre-school! We took part in lots of different Easter themed activities such as using tweezers to move our 'egg' pom poms to support our fine motor skills, colouring and decorating our own Easter eggs and making Easter egg nest crispy cakes. The children loved doing an Easter egg hunt too where we had our own special baskets and spent time finding eggs with a little help and using prepositional language for clues! We were also very lucky to have had a visit from our own Easter bunny Hugo! The children were very kind and gentle to Hugo and gave him lots of lovely strokes and fed him some treats. 2
Upper Pre-school Upper Pre-school had a very exciting new adventure starting at Forest School. Sam, our Forest school Teacher is wonderful and is firstly teaching the children all about outdoor safety. We watched how to start a real fire with a flint and talked about the risks and how we keep a safe distance. We have also been on the hunt for fairies. As a Forest School treat, we enjoyed hot chocolate and a biscuit for our hard work!
