Description A delightful family house, listed Grade II and providing both elegant and enjoyable accommodation. A pair of ball finial topped stone gate piers with ornate iron gate and a neighbouring gravel drive front the village lane. The house, built of honey coloured ashlar stone is a combination of the original 17th century manor which was much altered in the 18th century and remodelled in the mid twentieth century to provide the appealing house we have today. The garden facade overlooks the River Avon and is a classical arrangement of fine Venetian sash windows and central half glazed door bordered by Tuscan columns and a pedimented roof line. The front garden has parterres bordering the flagstone path which leads to the large panelled front door. On entering the overall appeal of the house is immediately apparent, with historic architectural features complimented by stylish contemporary design and decoration. Large sash windows provide light and views of both The River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal with countryside beyond. The spacious reception hall opens into the large drawing room as well as the kitchen/breakfast room, the dining room and the cloakroom. The drawing room has a glazed door to the garden, panelling to dado height and ornate cornice, ceiling moulding and carved wooden fireplace. An arched opening leads to the garden room with glazed elevation onto the garden and roof lantern above. The dining room has a glazed door to the front of the house and bespoke bookshelves
and cupboards fitted to three walls. The hub of the house is the kitchen (bordered by the drawing room, dining room, and utility/boot room) with its stunning American walnut wall and floor cabinets with larder cupboard and central island unit – topped by extensive granite worktops. Equipment includes Miele electric conventional and microwave ovens and electric Aga. The utility/boot room houses the gas fired boilers and doors to both the front and rear gardens. On the first floor the landing serves the principal bedroom with its fine ceiling cornice, pretty window seats and luxury ensuite bathroom. There are two further bedrooms and a family bathroom on this floor and the second floor provides two further bedrooms and a further bathroom. The lower ground floor which can be accessed from the reception hall or the garden provides valuable additional living space with a large home office (presently arranged as a gym), a sitting room and an undercroft onto the garden. In addition to the main house and approached from the gravel drive there is a one bedroom annexe with courtyard garden and a large garage with workshop, store and a cloakroom.
