Welcome to England in 1940, and the magical land of Narnia, where it is always winter and never Christmas. VISION AND STATEMENT OF FAITH The main purpose of our production is to bring glory to God. Throughout this process, we will strive to discuss, instill and live out an understanding of what it means to worship through acting. Our priorities will be worshiping and representing Christ and having a fun and life-giving experience, as we strive toward excellence. This is also an opportunity for us to practice functioning as the Body of Christ in this smaller, more intimate high school cast, as we work together toward a unified goal. Lastly, as Believers, we will strive to be different from casts and productions who do not know Christ, working together to let Jesus rule (not stress or worldly pressure), as we rehearse and perform for Him. STAFF TEAM Director/Producer – Mrs. Lois Shaw Production Assistant – Miss Libbie Atchison REHEARSALS AND COMMITMENT “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” rehearsals will be held 2-3 times a week this semester, and 4-5 times per week next semester. Rehearsals will range between 1.5 and 3 hours each day, held right after school. You will not be called to every rehearsal. Specific schedules will be sent out three weeks at a time. Please communicate any scheduling conflicts to Mrs. Shaw in the attached form. Tech Week, you are expected to be in rehearsal from 3:15-9:00 (and later on show days). There are no exceptions to this. PARENT EXPECTATIONS At least one parent or guardian from each family is required to be on a parent committee (sets, costumes, meals etc.) More information will be available at the required Parent Meeting on Wednesday, December 11th from 5:00-5:30 p.m. (immediately following rehearsal).
IMPORTANT DATES Auditions – Wednesday, November 20, 2020 Callbacks – Thursday – November 21, 2020 Performances Friday, February 28 at 7p.m. Saturday, February 29 at 2p.m. and 7p.m. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What time are auditions? Audition sign-ups are on Mrs. Shaw’s office door. They are five minutes each and run from 3:15-5:00. What should I wear to auditions? Wear something within school dress code that you feel comfortable in. Are auditions open or closed? Auditions are closed (just you and the judges will be in the room). Where will auditions take place? Auditions will take place in Mrs. Shaw’s office. What will auditions be like? Don’t worry, the “judges” are not “judging you.” We want you to succeed and are rooting for you! You will wait in the sanctuary until you are called. Then you will enter Mrs. Shaw’s office, hand in your audition packet and state your name, grade and desired role. You will then read the lines you’ve prepared with one of our judges reading for the other roles. What do I need to prepare for my audition? You will need to fill out the audition form and bring it with you. Please prepare the sides that correspond with the role you want. You may be asked to read for another role, so it would be wise to look over all the sides. Does my audition need to be memorized? It does not need to be memorized, but if you are wanting a lead role, memorization will help us see your level of commitment/preparedness.
Should I use a British accent in my audition? If you are able, yes. Will anyone be cut from the production? Not everyone will get a speaking part, but anyone who auditions will be cast. Where will information be throughout the process? You will receive emails with schedules and any other necessary information from Mrs. Shaw (Lshaw@westminsterchristian.org). If you are not receiving emails, please contact Mrs. Shaw at the previously stated email address. SYNOPSIS from Dramatic Publishing Co. This new dramatization of C.S. Lewis' classic, set in the land of Narnia, faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end the reign of Aslan. All the memorable episodes from the story are represented in this exciting dramatization: the temptation of Edmund by the witch, the slaying of the evil wolf by Peter, the witnessing of Aslan's resurrection by Susan and Lucy, the crowing of the four new rulers of Narnia, and more. The supporting characters are also here: the unicorn, the centaur and other forest animals, along with Father Christmas, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver and Tumnus the Faun. This story of love, faith, courage and giving, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life. Easily staged, the play may be presented without intermission or in two short acts if desired.
