The Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord Gathering Song Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day Penitential Act in accordance with the Scriptures. Gloria He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. LITURGY OF THE WORD I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. Reading I: Isaiah 60.1-6 I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins Response: Psalm 72 and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Each stanza 6:00pm Confessions at CR bears the same pattern … with each line having a certain number of beats to it, the same pattern of stressed syllables, and final words with Tuesday, January 5 similar vowel sounds. Think of that bit of childhood nursery doggerel, St. John Neumann “Roses are red, violets are blue; honey is sweet, and so are you.” The 12:10pm Mass +Irene and Carl Lella at CR verse has four lines, each line is composed of four syllables, with two 5:30pm Rosary and Novena at CR of them stressed, and the last syllables in lines two and three rhyming. Wednesday, January 6 When set to music, poems with the same pattern of syllables and St. André Bessette stresses (called meter) can usually be sung to the same tune. For 11:40am First Wednesday Devotion to example, it’s a fun fact that the opening theme of the 1960’s sitcom St. Joseph will be prayed at CR “Gilligan’s Island” has the same poetic scheme as “Amazing Grace.” 12:10pm Mass: Special Intention for the You don’t believe me?
