JUNE 2021 The EBRP Library’s Summer Reading Program GOES DIGITAL! There’s Something for Everyone with the Online Summer Reading Program The East Baton Rouge Parish Library’s 2021 Summer Reading Program, Tails and Tales, will begin Tuesday, June 1, and will run through Sunday, August 15. We are continuing our online summer reading program! Our traditional summer reading program, which relied on paper logs, regular visits to the Library, and attendance at Library programs, was impacted last year by the ongoing disruption due to COVID-19, and we’ve pivoted to offer something that works from a distance. P owered by Beanstack, our new program hosting completing timed reading sessions and complete seven software, there are four Summer Reading Challenges quests (combined activities) to earn activity badges! for all ages, as well as tons of online programming Challenge yourself to collect all 112 badges this summer! family fun with the Virtual Programming Challenge! Diversity Dialogues: Join the Discussion! Adults ages 18+ who are East Baton Rouge Parish residents are invited to register for small group meetings to discuss topics centered on racial diversity including historical events & trauma, stereotypes, white privilege, the Black Lives Matter movement, Asian violence, gender equality and more. These dialogues are being held to facilitate understanding and tolerance. Meetings will be held one day per week for four consecutive weeks, and will each last about an hour and a half. Louisiana Master Gardeners at the Library! Louisiana Stories The Louisiana Master Gardeners program is a service and educational activity offered by the Louisiana State University Fiber Art On (LSU) AgCenter. Fiction Writers Workshop Is there a story within you, waiting to be written? Join other fiction writers for a FREE in-person writers group at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 21. Analyzing Records & Standards of Proof * In this class, adults will learn how to analyze and interpret information from genealogical records found during research. Find out about the Genealogical Proof Standard and how it can help you resolve issues involving conflicting evidence. With the Genealogical Proof Standard, you can build a case for the veracity of your research even though you may lack clear evidence of a person’s identity or parentage.
