INFORMATION GUIDE
INTRODUCTION ATKV POSTMATRIEK is a 10-month long breakaway for young people, presented at the ATKV holiday resorts. Although ATKV Drakensville serves as the base, you will visit as many as four of the other beautiful ATKV resorts throughout the year. These resorts, with their diverse relaxation facilities, are located in the most beautiful parts of South Africa. So many school-leavers are unsure of what they want to do after matric. Therefore, it is a good idea to take a break after school and, in a safe environment, reflect on the exciting yet challenging future that awaits you. Through ATKV POSTMATRIEK, the ATKV offers the opportunity to not only make choices about your future, but also to develop different skills through experience and, at the same time, make lifelong friends. Some of the main goals of the ATKV POSTMATRIEK is to not only discover leadership potential through a programme filled with vision, goals, adventure and challenges, but also to develop the insight and ability to make informed, responsible decisions about your future and the direction of your career.
PROGRAMME CONTENT
The ATKV POSTMATRIEK programme content is accredited and consists of
six exciting sections to develop each student to their full potential.

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
02 Career guidance and guided career choices.
Your aptitude and interest will be determined individually by an
organisational psychologist.
Shadow work.
You will get the opportunity to learn more about a specific career by
spending a day or two with a successful person in that field.
Compiling your CV.
One of our goals is to help you build an impressive CV. Certificates will
therefore be awarded for all the courses that you complete during the year
and, in addition to the training in which you learn to compile your CV, you will
receive a professionally compiled and bound CV that includes all the courses
that you completed in your ATKV POSTMATRIEK YEAR.

ACCOMMODATION

• The first term kicks off at ATKV Drakensville. Closest bus stop: Harrismith (60 km).
• The second term starts at ATKV Drakensville, whereafter we will move to ATKV Eiland Spa
(between Tzaneen and Phalaborwa) in the middle of the term. Closest bus stop: Tzaneen (70 km);
closest airport: Phalaborwa (120 km). We end the term at ATKV Drakensville, but the students will
have a weekend off while at ATKV Eiland Spa, in case they want to go home from the Thursday
morning until the Sunday evening, or if their parents want to come visit on the resort.
• The third and fourth terms will take place on ATKV Drakensville.
*This programme can change, in which case timely notice will be given.
OPENING AND YEAR-
END FUNCTIONS

APPLICATION PROCESS
Complete the application form and submit it with
a proof of payment for the R200 administration fee,
from 1 May to 30 December 2021.
The selection process takes place at the end of
each month for the applications received up until
that time. Candidates will be notified in writing
after these dates of whether their applications were
successful.
Besides the notification, successful candidates will
receive a contract. This must be completed and sent
back within 30 days, together with the
deposit (R12 900).
If we do not receive the deposit within 30 days, the
candidate's name will be placed on a waiting list
and they can only be considered again after 30
November 2021.
Late applications, as well as unsuccessful
applications, will be reconsidered after 30 November
2021.

Students who are successfully selected by 31 August 2021 and whose deposits are paid by
15 September 2021 will be entered into the draw for a free -8°C First Ascent down sleeping
bag to the value of R4 000.
The winner will be notified by 1 October.COST
