4 DIFFERENT A Year in Review... COMMUNITY SPECIFIC PROGRAMS & As I reflect on one of the most difficult years, in all its unique and 20 MINISTRY unexpected challenges, I am humbled by God’s faithfulness to his people SITES and I am truly grateful for YOU! You have made all this possible through your support! I believe God, in spite of the circumstance, has allowed us to have an incredible year of ministry. Our Campus Life, City Life, YFC Core, and Juvenile Justice Ministries each THIS PAST YEAR provided a safe place for kids to share their stories and explore what they 668 KIDS GAVE THEIR NAME TO A believed about God and themselves. Through online Bible studies, socially YFC LEADER distant club meetings, drive-by water balloon fights, and endless texts and phone calls, our YFC leaders showed up for our teens when they needed it most. If God can do all this during a pandemic, what will he be able to do in the years to come when his people join together to share the Gospel with young people all across Long Island? 326 KIDS ARE IN A CONVERSATIONAL I was recently talking to a young man at one of our ministry sites. He is RELATIONSHIP facing very difficult circumstances and expressed that he is ready to die. He WITH A CARING said he waits every day for his life to end and for it all to be over. My heart LEADER broke as I listened, I hope yours does too. As dark and as hopeless as he is and as his situation seems, I believe we are there chipping away day after day with the love and light of Christ. I am excited about the future of LIYFC. I believe God wants to open up 140 KIDS ARE IN AN AUTHENTIC more doors into more places where we can serve. I pray in the years to CHRIST-SHARING come we will have more leaders and ministry sites on Long Island. This, in RELATIONSHIP turn, means we will be able to learn more names of kids, have more authentic Christ-sharing relationships, and most importantly see more young people become lifelong followers of Jesus. But we need your help! There are many ways to join us in this mission. We’d love to chat with you about it. We know so many more teens need to know 43 STUDENTS HAVE SAID how much they are loved and valued by God; will you be a part of their "YES "TO story? JESUS. Anchored to the Rock, Geared to the Times, Craig Muller, Executive Director Last month we had a live virtual fundraising event. "Prayer Works!" -A Story from Inside JJM Every week our Juvenile Justice Ministry leaders are serving at the Nassau County Detention Center. From hosting Bible studies to teaching art and music, our goal is to share the love of God with those that have often lost hope. Stephen, a LIYFC leader, asked Manny*, one of the inmates, “How can I pray for you?” Manny replied “I feel so bad I’ve broken my mom’s heart by being here. I’ve missed Mother’s day and I’ll miss her birthday. I don’t want to be about the street anymore, they’ve never done anything for me, I really want to get back to school. Can you pray for my relationship with her and that I can turn my life around?” Stephen prayed with him, and then he went to call his mom. Manny came back with this huge smile on his face, and told Stephen, “My mom said that she was praying for me and I said ‘I’m praying in here'. She was shocked and so happy!" He then told Stephen that things are looking up and that "Prayer WORKS!" We believe that to be true and that no one is beyond God's grace and love. 202 0 = CAN Me CEL & m ED! y Y FC lea de r 2021 r Year Senio Financials THIS REPRESENTS ALLOCATED % OF BOTH TOTAL INCOME Binu AS WELL AS TOTAL EXPENSE IN THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2020 Elijah TOTAL INCOME: $575,118 Total Expenses: $630,346 Kathy Michael Income Sources by % Expense Categories by % 66% Individual Support 73% Programs and Services Chase 21% Funding Events 18% Management & General Tammy 11% Church Support 9% Marketing & Public Relations Doming o 1% Activities Danielle 1% Other Steff Rayna LIYFC is a non-profit corporation and is exempt from income tax under the Internal Revenue Service Code Section 501(c)(3). UPDATE ON SARAH'S STORY A year ago we shared Sarah's* story, a student in our City Life program who found herself pregnant at 16 years old with nowhere to turn. Sarah, who had been in the foster system her whole life was then put in an even harder situation, all during the course of a pandemic. Because of her relationship with her YFC mentor, she always had a caring adult by her side. YFC was able to arrange transportation to doctor appointments, provide emotional support, and held a drive-by baby shower. We are happy to report Sarah had a healthy baby, who just turned one! Her YFC leader says Sarah overcame this year with resilience and has matured into an excellent mother and young adult. She is still attending our City Life meetings, now with baby in hand, and our volunteers love to babysit her little one so she can have some time to play the games and participate in the Bible studies. Thank you for praying and continuing to pray for Sarah! *Names changed for privacy Save the Date Pray for us?
