BRAWA Newsletter June 2018 The Buzz at BRAWA Volunteers in Action "Many hands make light work" is a saying that our volunteers use and hear often at BRAWA. We could not do the things we do and get to places we get to without our faithful volunteers. Our shelter is known as one of the best within the state of Kentucky; other shelters come to us, see how our shelter is built, and ask how we keep such a solid volunteer base. 175 Trojan Trail We try to keep our volunteers happy. New additions: Re-vamp for mothers and kittens and a flower dedication We recently revamped our setup for cats and kittens and arranged a special space (formerly Critter Corner) for mothers with nursing kittens. This space allows for visitors to view them through the glass of the nursery window and watch their progress as they get strong enough for adoption while also providing less stress on the momma and kittens. Our other revamp for cats and kittens that are already up for adoption includes a move that reduces their already stressful stay at the shelter by allowing them to be further from the dog area. We also built a planter with flowers under our sign in remembrance of those without a voice as we all continue to use our voices to fight for the welfare of the animals of Barren County and provide them with love, care, and furever homes. We welcome you to stop by and check out these new additions and visit the animals! ____________________________________________________________________ Celebrating 18 Years of Cheddar Anyone who has frequented BRAWA probably knows Cheddar! Cheddar came to us as a stray, young cat and was given a birth date and approximate age. On August 10, we will celebrate his 18th birthday. We knew when he came that with his great personality, Cheddar was the right man for the job. It's a hard one, but someone has to do it. As the working house cat of the shelter, he has charmed, provided great company, and stolen the hearts of many for years now. He lives out his retirement and enjoys catnapping, getting in on some occasional pizza and donuts, and keeping everyone in line. Join us in honoring Cheddar's life and celebrating his 18th birthday! _______________________________________________________________________ S.N.A.P. at BRAWA __________________________________ Fleas and Ticks Be Gone!
