Volume 24 Issue 8 February 2022 Worthy Brothers, As we enter the last half of our fraternal year, let us strive to be more like St Joseph. Call upon him for help when dealing with your family, your lives and one another. Let us all support our charities in this upcoming year. We pray for an end of this pandemic and seek St Joseph’s guidance to help make our Council flourish for future Brother Knights of Columbus. I look forward to seeing you at our general meeting on February 9th! Thanks to our ladies for all your support We are here because Of YOU
Volume 24, Issue 8 February 2022 (Mary Queen of Angels 12384) page 2 From the Desk of the Chaplain… As we find ourselves now in the doldrums of winter during the longest month of the year. February, to me, always feels like longest month, and we can use this time to prepare. Prepare for what you may ask. Prepare to shovel snow? Prepare to slip on the ice? No, to prepare for our Lent and our Lenten observances. Lent begins on Wednesday, March 2nd, so this makes February a great time to prepare for Lent. Use the time to determine what you wish to abstain from during Lent and which devotions you feel called to make a part of my Lenten pray life. This is the month in which you can shed light on your spiritual lives. February is the month of light! February begins with the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple. A day when the Church celebrates the Light of Christ entering the Temple. It is the day in which we bless the candles that we will use in the coming liturgical year. A day we celebrate the Light of Christ. We so need that light to help us in our daily lives. It brightens our lives and dispels the darkness. It is with those newly blessed candles that the next day we bless throats during the Feast of Saint Blaise. We use the light to bring us health. Both our spiritual and physical health. My brothers do not let this opportunity, this month of preparation, pass without thinking of how you can improve your relationship with Christ and make your Lent the productive time our Lord wants it to be for you. May God Bless you and your families during this month of light! Father Jonathan Dalin Dues (def) A necessary pain in the butt We are required to send a significant portion of your dues to Supreme Council and to the State Council, as part of our capita tax. If you do not pay your dues, we lose money, sott to those of you who have not yet paid your 2022 dues, I ask that you consider taking care of it as soon as you can. BUT REMEMBER…if your dues is truly a financial burden, we will NEVER allow a dues problem prevent your membership.
