Group Travel Experts to Ireland, UK & Beyond Suggested Day by Day Itinerary: July 5 – 11, 2019 July 5: Overnight Departure from USA July 6: Arrive Dublin Airport – meet your Driver/Guide at the airport and transfer to Belfast. On the way stop at Slane Castle and enjoy a hearty Irish breakfast before learning the history of the Conyngham family who have lived here since the Battle of Boyne in 1690. We’ll also hear about the iconic rock and roll artists that have graced the stage at Slane Rock concerts. Following this, enjoy a tour of the world class distillery and enjoy a tasting of the triple-casked Slane Irish Whiskey. We continue to Belfast and on arrival we enjoy a visit to St George’s Market, where there has been a Friday market on the St. George’s site since 1604. The present award-winning St George’s Market, built between 1890 & 1896, is one of Belfast’s oldest attractions. The market is home to some of the finest fresh produce and specialty foods, with customers travelling near and far to sample the delights of the Friday, Saturday and Sunday markets. Later we check into our hotel and tonight we enjoy dinner together in the hotel’s restaurant. Dinner & Overnight: The Maldron Hotel Belfast City Center (B,D) July 7: Belfast City Sightseeing Tour w/ Titanic Belfast After enjoying a hearty Irish breakfast, this morning we will take a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city to take in all of its historic and fascinating areas including the City Centre, the Protestant neighborhood of Shankill Road, the Catholic neighborhood of Falls Road and much more. The sightseeing tour will conclude at the Titanic Quarter, a large-scale waterfront regeneration comprising historic maritime landmarks, film studios, education facilities, apartments, a riverside entertainment district, and the world's number one tourist attraction, Titanic Belfast, which we will visit today. Symbolic inside and out, Titanic Belfast tells the story of RMS Titanic from her conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to her famous maiden voyage and tragic end. This evening you will have some free time to explore Belfast as you please. Overnight: The Maldron Hotel Belfast (B) July 8: The Giants Causeway & Game of Thrones This morning after breakfast, we will journey via the Causeway Coastal Route – dubbed one of the best coastal drives in the World and visit Northern Ireland’s iconic attraction and its only UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Giant’s Causeway. Resulting from a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago, this is the focal point for a designated area of outstanding natural beauty which has attracted visitors for centuries as well as the legendary giant-Finn McCool. On our return journey to Belfast we will stop at the Dark Hedges. This avenue of beautiful beech trees has become one of Northern Ireland’s top tourist attractions since it was made famous as “The Kingsroad’ in Game of Thrones. We will also see Dunluce Castle, used as the location of Castle Greyjoy. Upon returning to Belfast, you are free to enjoy the many culinary delights of this vibrant city. Overnight: The Maldron Hotel Belfast (B) July 9: The Foodie Tour of Belfast City………. This morning we meet our local guide as we enjoy a 4-hour fun and food filled guided walk tasting incredible local produce in some of the top food and drink spots around Belfast City on this award-winning Foodie Tour. The focus of this tour is the best local food specialties and spirits in the area. You will sample over 25 products from Northern Ireland. The total distance walked is approx. 1 mile. Group Travel Experts to Ireland, UK & Beyond July 10: Bread Making and Downpatrick ……. This morning after breakfast we continue on our food trial as we travel along the shores of Strangford Lough and visit a local home, where we learn to bake the traditional breads to Northern Ireland. Enjoy a cup of tea and local hospitality before travelling onto Downpatrick. Here we see the impressive Down Cathedral and also the reputed burial site of St. Patrick. We then continue to our 100 arces of beautifully manicured gardens and parkland – the setting for tonight’s 19th Century Castle stay – Cabra Castle.Upon arrival there will be time to enjoy your surroundings before we have dinner together this evening in the Castle. Dinner & Overnight: Cabra Castle Hotel (D,B) July 11: Homeward bound: Pack your bags as we head for Dublin Airport, where you will board your flight for home. Carry on your photos and memories and bring a bit of the Emerald Isle home with you. ‘The Land of One Hundred Thousand Welcomes’ will be expecting you again soon!
