Subject Overview 2018 – 2019 Department Name: Spanish Head of Department: Mr O Cayuela-Abenoza Subject Teachers: Ms R Goldsmith Accommodation and Resources: Rooms 71, 72, 73, 74 We are teaching in 2 classrooms and 1 lesson per fortnight in a Computer room to allow students to learn to type in Spanish using accents and the letter ñ. We use Linguascope in all years to consolidate vocabulary and gain confidence using Spanish. We chose AQA as our examining board and we subscribe yearly to ¡Viva! From Pearson for KS3 and KS4. I am in the process of including year 7 if the department budget’s constrictions allows it. For KS4 we have AQA GCSE Foundation and Higher materials and a very useful Grammar and Translation book. All of the textbooks include access to an interactive book that can be used on the interactive whiteboards. They include exercises to cover the four key skills when learning a language: speaking, listening, reading and writing. What will students learn in each year? Year 7 Term 1: - Introducing yourself – name/asking how someone is - Learning numbers 1-31 – giving your age and saying when your birthday is - Using the verb ‘tener’ - Spanish alphabet - Talking about the classroom and what’s in your school bag - Using the indefinite article ‘un/una’
