Startup Contest „InSilesia - Investment SFR Award” Merit Partners Śląski Fundusz Rozwoju
Startup Contest Regulations of the „InSilesia - Investment SFR Award” competition organized as part of the European Future Forum 2021. §1 General provisions 1. The competition is hosted by the Silesian Voivodeship, the competition is organized by Silesian Development Fund (Śląski Fundusz Rozwoju Sp. z o.o.), the competition partner is Plug and Play Austria GmbH. 2. The competition is aimed at startups and enterprises from the SME1 sector implementing innovative solutions (pro- ducts, services, processes) that can be used in regions implementing economic transformation processes, as well as post-industrial regions willing to develop and create digital societies. 3. The competition is international: technology transfer to Silesia and internationalization of Silesian technologies in the world. 4. The competition is an integral part of the European Future Forum event, the final session of which will be combined with the settlement of the competition and the award ceremony, which will take place on the 2nd day of the Forum (October 7, 2021). 5. Participation in the competition is free of charge. 6. Participation in the competition is tantamount to accepting its regulations. 7. In all cases not specified in these Regulations, the final decision is made by the Organizer. The decisions issued by the Organizer are final and cannot be appealed against. §2 Personal data and consent to use the right to the image 1. The administrator of personal data collected from Participants is the Silesian Development Fund (SFR) with its registe- red office at Żeliwna 38 street in Katowice. The processing of personal data will take place on the terms provided for in Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016. on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46 / EC (general regulation on the protection of personal data). 2. Personal data of the Participants will be collected and processed in order to organize and conduct the Competition. 3. The Organizer will collect the following data of Competition Participants: name and surname, telephone number, e-mail. The data will be collected for the purpose of contact in organizational matters. 4. The Competition Participant allows the use of his / her name and surname to inform about the results of the Competition 1 The definition of an SME according to Art. 2 of the Annex to Commission Recommendation 2003/361 / EC, quotation: „The category of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) consist of enterprises that employ fewer than 250 employees and whose annual turnover does not exceed EUR 50 million, and / or the total balance sheet the annual amount does not exceed EUR 43 million”.

The data of the Competition Participants will be processed for the duration of the Competition, up to 7 days from the date of its settlement, and in a wider scope, if it is necessary for the Organizer to pursue claims or defend against claims. 6. During the event, the Organizer has the right to take photos and record videos for the purposes of their use in the mass media (TV, radio, Internet, press) and for documentation, promotional and marketing purposes of the Organizer, Host, Partners and other entities indicated by the Organizer. Participation in the competition is tantamount to consent to the registration, use and emission by the Organizer, the Host, Partners or their related entities image / voice / statements of each participant in all promotional and marketing materials without any time or territorial restrictions. 7. Expressing consent means that photos, videos and recordings recorded during the event may be published on the con- ference website or on other websites operated by the Organizer, including those broadcasts in audio, video and image formats. Each participant hereby waives all claims (current and future), including claims for remuneration against the Organizer, the Host and Partners, for the use of his image / voice / speech for the purposes set out in these Regulations. 8. Contest participants consent to the Organizer and the Competition Partner to use the information presented in the contest presentations about their projects (especially the name of the project, project description, etc.) for promotional purposes of the European Future Forum event through all communication channels used to promote the European Future Forum. §3 Purpose of the competition 1. The aim of the competition is to promote enterprising people who create innovative enterprises and to develop an innovative economy. 2. The purpose of the competition is to select technological solutions that support and accelerate the development goals of the regions undergoing transformation. 3. The competition creates opportunities for young entrepreneurs to implement their own concepts through active networking / matchmaking with Investors present during the event. 4. Participation in the competition gives start-ups the opportunity to develop, scale their business and build brand reco- gnition in the international arena. §4 Recruitment rules 1. Entities participating in the competition must meet the following criteria and belong to one of the groups: a. a natural person or a group of natural persons developing innovative solutions (products, services, processes) that can be used in regions implementing economic transformation processes. b. a micro, small or medium-sized enterprise developing innovative solutions (products, services, processes) that can be used in regions implementing economic transformation processes. 3. The applicant companies should have a product in the MVP phase (minimum viable product) - the basic version of the product with a sufficient number of functionalities to meet the needs of potential customers.
4. Employees of the Organizer, the Host and Partners, including persons employed under civil law contracts, as well as members of their immediate family , may not participate in the Competition. §5 Competition categories 1. The competition will be conducted in the following categories: a. loT, b. Green Tech/Sustainability, c. Travel&Hospitality, d. e-Health, e. Smart City, f. industry 4.0. §6 Competition formula / competition rules 1. Participants via the event website www.efp-silesia.com set up an individual account within the deadline specified in § 6 sec. 4 lit. a and send, in accordance with the rules of representation, signed scans of the following Documents: a. The application form along with the Pitch deck Presentation prepared in English (the template can be downloaded from www.efp-silesia.com) in pptx or pdf format - the purpose of which is to present the Participant in the best possible way. The presentation should describe the most important aspects such as: team, product-service- -process, market, business model and project traction. b. GDPR statement. 2. Specimens of documents listed in § 6 sec. 1 Participant will be able to download after logging into the previously created individual account. 3. The evaluation and selection of applications will be carried out on the basis of four stages: Stage I - Preselection - Selection of 50 startups from among the submitted applications. The Organizer and the Competition Partner Team evaluate the submitted Participants’ Presentations in accordan- ce with § 7. The selected Participants (50) with the highest number of points will prepare, under the remote (on-li- ne) substantive supervision of the Organizer and the Competition Partner Team, a two-minute film, which will then be posted on the event website www. efp-silesia.com within the period specified in § 6 sec. 4 lit. c. Stage II - Selection of 20 startups from among the submitted applications. The Organizer and the Competition Partner Team will evaluate the Participants’ films in accordance with § 7. The twenty Participants (Finalists) with the highest number of points will go to the 3rd Stage. Stage III - Mentoring workshops with a Partner. Competition finalists will be invited to participate in an on-line workshop with a Plug and Play Austria GmbH Part- ner, during which they will work on preparation for the final pitching session (stage IV).
Stage IV - Final - Pitching Session. The presentations of the Competition Finalists will take place during the second day of the European Future Forum. During 3-minute speeches, participants will present their solutions to the jury. Each startup will get an additional two minutes for questions from the Jury and the audience (online). The Jury will select the Winner and two Laureates according to the rules described in § 8. Then the Prizes will be awarded. 4. Important dates of the competition: a. The deadline for announcing the Competition and sending applications: 23.07.2021 - 10.09.2021 b. Stage 1 - Preselection - Selection of 50 startups from among the submitted applications: 10.09.2021– 17.09.2021 c. Preparation of a video by Participants selected in stage 1 – 18.09.2021 – 26.09.2021 d. Stage 2 - Selection of 20 startups from among the submitted applications – 27.09.2021 – 29.09.2021 e. Stage 3 - Mentoring workshops with a Partner – 30.09.2021 – 5.10.2021 f. Stage 4 - Final - Pitching Session – 7.10.2021 5. The date of submission of Documents in the Competition shall be the date of submission of Documents via the website www.efp-silesia.com. 6. The Organizer will verify the correctness of the documentation submitted by the Participants in terms of formalities. §7 Assessment of startups 1. The Organizer and the Competition Partner Team will evaluate the submitted Participants’ Presentations (stage I) in five categories: team, product-service-process, market, business model and project traction. Each of the above- -mentioned categories will be assessed on a scale from 0 to 6. 2. The Organizer and the Competition Partner Team will evaluate the Participants’ videos (stage II) in 3 categories: in- novation, benefits from the solution (for example: impact of the idea on problems / meeting the needs of customers and recipients, impact of the idea on the socio-economic situation of the region, how the solution will offer unique and significant value to the recipient), business strategy. Each of the above-mentioned categories will be assessed on a scale from 0 to 6. 3. If the Participants have an equal number of points and the already established number of Participants (stage I and II) is selected, the Participants with the same number of points will also be qualified for the next stage. 4. Each of the qualified Participants will be informed about the results of the Competition at stage 1 and stage 2 by e-mail to the address provided in the application form. §8 Jury work 1. The Competition Jury consists of the President of the Organizer’s Management Board (Jury President) and the following members: a. Two Representatives of the Competition Partner, indicated by the Competition Partner 7 days before the Compe-
tition Final; a. Two representatives: business, science or non-governmental institutions related to the development and promotion of the region and / or local government administration indicated by the Chairman of the Jury 7 days before the Final of the Competition. 2. The Jury, after the final presentation of the pitching session of Finalists, conducts a secret ballot and selects the Winner and two Competition Laureates. 3. Decisions are made by simple majority of votes. In the event of failure to reach a majority, the decisive vote of the Cha- irman of the Jury. 4. The EFF staff, providing administrative and organizational support for the Jury meeting, takes part in it, but does not have the right to vote. 5. The report in the form of minutes from the Competition Committee meeting is prepared by the Secretary appointed by the Jury Chairman. §9 Awards 1. Prizes will be awarded on the basis of the judgments made by the Jury and the answers to questions during the Event. 2. The Jury reserves the right to select more Laureates. 3. The prizes are intended only for the Winner and two (First and Second) Laureates of the Competition. The right to the prize cannot be transferred to third parties. 4. Awards in the Competition: a. a. Main prizes: Î for the first place, the Winner is entitled to a cash prize in the amount of PLN 100,000.00 (say: one hundred tho- usand zlotys), Î for the second place, the First Laureate is entitled to a cash prize in the amount of PLN 30,000.00 (in words: thirty thousand zlotys), Î for the third place, the Second Winner is entitled to a cash prize of PLN 20,000.00 (say: twenty thousand zlotys). The Organizer, Host, Competition Partner will provide the Winners with support in establishing business contacts with potential investors and assistance in implementing the solution. b. The Organizer, Host, Partner will provide the Winners and Laureates with support in establishing business contacts with potential investors and assistance in implementing the solution. c. The Winners and Laureates will have the opportunity to hold a coaching / mentoring session with a selected Jury member within 3 weeks of the announcement of the Competition results. d. The Winner and Laureates will have the opportunity to record an advertising spot with the possibility of promotion in social media channels: EFP, ŚFR, InSilesia, Plug and Play Austria GmbH and other exhibition fields.
e. The Winner and Laureates will have the right to use the logo title for promotional purposes. f. The Winner and Laureates will receive a Statuette and a diploma. g. A special prize will be awarded to the startup selected in an audience vote. § 10 Higher power Siła wyższa 1. In the event of force majeure, including, in particular, a threat to people participating in the event or bystanders caused by the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Organizer reserves the right to change the manner, date and time of the organization and conduct of the Competition or the awarding of Awards. 2. The Organizer is not responsible for any difficulties or inability to organize and conduct the Competition in the event of force majeure § 11 Final Provisions 1. The competition runs from 23.07.2021 to 7.10.2021. 2. In matters not covered by these Regulations, the provisions of the Civil Code and other generally applicable Polish laws shall apply. 3. These Competition Regulations are available on the European Future Forum website www.efp-silesia.com. 4. The Winner and Laureates of the Competition are obliged to settle the tax liabilities arising from the applicable legal regulations related to the receipt of Prizes in the Competition. 5. The Organizer reserves the right to change the Regulations during the Competition for important organizational and legal reasons - however, these changes will not affect the already acquired rights of the Competition participants. 6. The participants of the Competition are fully responsible for the truthfulness of the data provided in connection with the Competition. The Organizer and the Competition Partner are not responsible for the consequences of providing false data or data of another person by the Participant. 7. Participation in the competition is tantamount to accepting by the participant the entire rules of the competition and the rules of EFF. Participants ensure that they will comply with all the provisions of these regulations, and that they meet all the conditions for participation in the competition.
