ST. STEPHEN SCOUT NEWS Harvest for the Hungry/Scouting for Food: Thank you to all the parishioners who donated to our Annual Scouting Food Drive. We collected a little over 300 lbs and it was donated to the Knights of Columbus in Joppatowne. Girl Scouts: Our Girl Scout Troops are gearing up for Bridging and outdoor activities now that the weather has warmed. Girl Scout does centers around STEM, the Outdoors, development of Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship. It’s the best leadership experience for girls in the world for one very good reason: because it’s girl-led! It is also time for Early Registration so anyone interested in having their daughter join the premier leadership organization just for girls please email renemonaghan@hotmail.com or phone 410-877-0698 Scout BSA Troop #877 - As Spring starts making an appearance, BSA Troop 877 continues to meet and help young boys learn new scouting skills, camp, and provide community service to our neighborhood. We want to thank those families that reached out to us as we are delivered 791 bags of mulch to our friends and neighbors who purchased mulch during our Troop 877 Fundraiser. Registration - We are continuing to look for young Webelos scouts or young boys (Grade 5 and up) looking to join our Troop. We have camping trips planned in April and May and are looking forward to welcoming our new Webelos Scouts from Pack 877 which will be joining our Troop. In addition, Troop 877 is still offering Camp Cards/Scout Coupon Cards which for a $5 donation, provides over $80 in discounts to local businesses like Jiffy Lube, Ace Hardware, Dick's Sporting Goods, Wendy's and Taco Bell to name a few. For each $5 card, $2.50 will go to Troop 877 and $2.50 goes to the Baltimore Area Council's Disadvantaged Scouting program. The BAC's Disadvantaged Scouting program helps defer costs and provide equipment for our Baltimore BSA families that are economically disadvantaged. April 20, 2021 - Support BSA Troop 877 plus enjoy great food and ice cream for the whole family! From 5-9 pm on Tuesday, April 20th. 10% of all sales (ice cream and food) will go to BSA Troop 877 to support scouting activities! Come show your support and invite your friends! No flyer needed, just show up and enjoy! Jarrettsville Creamery and Deli, 1747 W Jarrettsville Rd Jarrettsville, MD 21084 Cub Scouts: Pack 877 will be holding our Annual Blue and Gold celebration a little differently this year as we recognize our Webelos II den on achieving their Arrow of Light rank. We will also hold our bridging ceremony as the Scouts cross over into a Scouts BSA Troop. They have worked very hard to achieve their new rank. Congratulations to this den! This year, our Blue and Gold will be held at Jerusalem Mills on Saturday, April 24, at 6pm. We would like to thank Yvonne Malick for her hard work organizing our Flock the Yard Fundraiser. We raised over $1,300 and the funds will be used to prevent an increase in Pack dues for the 2021-2022 Scout year. Thank you also to members of St Stephen who helped with the Scouting for Food program in March. SERVICE OPPORTUNITI ES Helping Hands Food Pantry: At St. Stephen we are still collecting non-perishable food items in our donation bin (located in the room under the parish center porch). If you see the bin is full, please contact Kellie kellie@ssparish.org. Helping Hands Food Pantry at Salem United Methodist Church is open Monday and Friday 10 am to 12 noon. Anyone in need of food can receive it by calling 410-592-2226. Please phone ahead so your order can be ready for pick up and social distancing can be maintained. Thank you for your support! Consider making a casserole for Our Daily Bread. They are feeding the poor daily with take-out meals and seem to love our chicken noodle broccoli casserole. Both the casseroles and the food pantry items can be dropped off in the donation room located in the parish center basement under the back porch. April / May Service Project - Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to participate in the next virtual service project in preparation for Memorial Day. We will be creating gift bags for veterans at the VA Residential Facility & Long-Term Care at Perry Point. Please see the Sign Up Genius to register by 4/11 and details will be sent out via email. Diapers Needed: Women’s Care Center in Fullerton is continuing to serve women, children and families, with precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Many people are in need now, so the center would welcome donations of diapers in sizes NB, 4, 5, and 6. Target and Amazon, among others, will deliver directly to the center at 7621 Belair Rd., Baltimore, MD 21236 (667-401-0700.). Or drop your donation off at the parish center porch, and we’ll see that they are taken to the center.
