Faith Communities Census Weekend of Action - July 24th
Over the next 10 years, data from the 2020 Census will inform the distribution of hundreds of bullions of dol-
lars in federal funds each year that support education, health care, emergency services housing and food as-
sistance and more. If you haven’t completed your Census, please take a few minutes to do it, now.
Welcome to Mass at St. Joseph Parish!
We want to continue to welcome everyone as we enjoy the celebration of public Mass again! It is good to
see so many of you! The Green Bay Diocese is in Phase II of the reopening of our churches and so each
church may allow up to 25% of their seating capacity both on the weekend and weekday—which for St.
Joseph Church is 85 people.
- It should be noted though that the dispensation from the Sunday Obligation of the Mass remains during
Phase II. The faithful should use their best judgement as to whether or not to attend. Those who are not sick
or frail due to illness or age are encouraged to come to Mass.
- Those who are showing symptoms of illness should remain at home.
- Likewise those age 65 and older and those with compromised immunity and who may be at higher risk,
should likewise continue to consider staying at home for the time being.
- The following are the safety protocols we are asked to follow:
Please enter through the north door of the church and exit through the west doors.
We encourage people to please perform proper hand hygiene when entering.
Masks will be available and the faithful are strongly encouraged to wear one.
It is strongly encouraged that those wishing to enter the church should have their temperature taken
to ensure that they do not have a fever.
Please help maintain social distancing of 6 feet everywhere on the church property if possible (on the
church steps, in the parking lot, etc.). Members of a single household do not need to practice physical
distancing with each other and so may sit together in the same row.
Proper distancing of 6 feet and spacing is marked for on the floor of the middle aisle with blue tape for
those receiving Holy Communion.
Please do not use the missalettes or hymnals during Mass.
Baskets are placed on tables in the center aisle for people to put their contribution in either as they enter
the church or come up for Holy Communion.
Bulletins will be available in the holders by the west-side doors and should be picked at the end of the
Mass as people leave.
Only one adult, or a small child with an adult should enter a restroom at a time, and a method for socially
distancing those waiting is in place.
Hard surfaces in the church such as pews and doors are regularly cleaned and all surfaces the faithful may
have come into contact with must are sanitized between each scheduled Mass. Restrooms are to be
cleaned in-between Masses. HELP IS NEEDED WITH THIS!
As you leave the pew to exit the church please leave your kneeler down so that we know which pews
were occupied during the Mass.
Open trash receptacles have been placed as close to the doors as possible for the proper disposal of
wipes and used masks.
Groups should not congregate before or after Masses either inside or outside the church.
We continue to need committed volunteers to assist with hospitality and help wipe down areas of the
church after each Mass. If you are willing to help us with this please contact the parish office at 920-787-
3848 and indicate which Mass(es) you would be willing to help with. We are very grateful to the people who
have helped us and do help us with this task. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and you make the task go
very quickly.
Act of Spiritual Communion
During this time when many of us are not able to attend, or for various reasons, choose not to attend Mass
and receive Holy Communion, we can still make an Act of Spiritual Communion. Below is the prayer for Spir-
itual Communion which we can say every day:
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

When public Mass was suspended in the middle of March, a big concern here at St. Joseph Parish was how
much money we would have to pay salaries, benefits and bills. So many of you responded though with such
generosity that it was never a concern. Thank you so much for your financial support of our parish during
those uncertain times and we continue to appreciate it and need it as we move through Phase II of the open-
ing of our churches.

I would like to thank everyone who in any way helped organize the Farewell Party for me last Sunday! The
food and the cake were delicious. Thank you also to everyone who came, and thank you for your cards. I
deeply appreciate it. This is another reason why I have felt so blessed being here at St. Joseph these past six
years. Thank you again. You are all wonderful people and I pray that God will richly bless you always!
Annual Seminarian Collection
Our Seminarians Need Your Help: Over the past 15 years, our diocese has witnessed incredible growth in all
vocations including the priesthood. Let’s keep that growth going and support our future spiritual fathers!

portant letter will arrive in your mailbox this week asking for your help. Next weekend is the kick off of the
15th year of this annual collection. Your donation provides tuition, room and board, insurance, a small sti-
pend for our seminarians and will support the Vocation Office’s efforts to call forth more candidates. The to-
tal annual cost for our 14 seminarians is around $1,000,000. As friends and followers of Jesus, we support

Our Farewell for Father David
On July 19th we had a small gathering for Father in the Parish Hall. Father David’s last
weekend here will be August 1st and 2nd - so if you were not able to attend, you will still
have an opportunity to say good bye to him. Thank you to Colleen and her crew for provid-
ing the food and serving under the current safety conditions.
Thoughts on the Prayer of Solomon for Wisdom Here is an article from Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Parish in Lake Havasu City, AZ titled “Understanding vs Wisdom,” written by Deacon Mike Woiwode, dated 30 July 2017, and found on the ourladyofthelakeromancatholic.org website: “The Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream. God said, "Ask something of me and I will give it to you." If God were to ask you and I the same question, what would we ask for? I've asked this question several people over the last 10 days and I got many different answers. I had only one that had the same request that Solomon had requested from God, "Give me the understanding to know right from wrong." This is what Solomon had asked for and that pleased God. In the Book of Kings, Chapter 3: 5-12, we find that this understanding Solomon received is called Wisdom. And if we read on a bit further, lines 16-27, we read a story that we are very familiar with, the splitting in half of a baby. Is there a difference between understanding, which Solomon asked for, and the gift of wisdom which God granted Solomon? No, there is not! Wisdom is the ability to understand, through faith, what God reveals to us. This is not the same as knowledge either. Knowledge is what we are able to learn because of our intellect. We all need to know God and we all need wisdom in order to understand what we know. Here is an example: We know God is love! But do we understand through faith, what God's love is? This is where wisdom comes in. We can ask a hundred people, "What is love?" and get a hundred different answers. Our culture and social media has twisted love into so many different descriptions, and none of them are even remotely close to God's design of love. So knowing God is not enough. We must also have the wisdom to un- derstand who God is and what He wants and why He wants it. Now, let's go back to my original question, "What did you ask for"? Do you feel it would have pleased God, as Solomon's did? What Solomon had asked for pleased God because he did not ask for something that benefit- ed him only. It benefited others and was for the good of others. Would your request do that? If it doesn't, what should we ask for? Jesus does tell us, "Ask my Father for anything in my name and the Father will grant it." We have the same opportunity Solomon had. We too are called to the service of others. That is love and God is love. We are here to give glory to His name and there is no better way than to lay down our lives for a friend. You and I are called to invite God, and His Son, into the hearts of all those He puts in our lives. This is the way we live in Jesus and He in us. We must persevere to the end, lest we lose our way. Even though God had given Solomon a gift greater than anyone had or will ever have, Solomon still fell away from Gods' grace, and he turned to the love of many foreign women. Because of this, Solomon's heart was not entirely with the Lord. So the Lord said," Since this is what you want, I will deprive you of your Kingdom, but not in your lifetime for the sake of your father, King David." God did take away the kingdom, from Solo- mon's son. We need to receive and keep the gift God gave Solomon. So, how do we open ourselves to receive gifts from God? It all starts with prayer. Everything we do when we turn to God starts with prayers. If we study God by: reading the bible, attending church services, especially the Mass, reading books on saints, receiving the sacraments often, like reconciliation and the Eucharist, re- ceiving spiritual direction from a priest, and going to adoration, we will start learning about God and gain the correct knowledge of who He is. Wisdom is measured out in proportion to our knowledge of God. The more knowledge we have, the more wisdom we receive. Through the gift of Wisdom, we can then sur- render our life to Him and love in His wisdom. This is God's desire for us, to live in Him and He in us. This is the way we can grow closer to God and bring God to others.”
¡Bienvenidos a la misa en la Parroquia de San José!
¡Queremos seguir dando la bienvenida a todos mientras disfrutamos de la celebración de la misa pública de
nuevo! ¡Es bueno ver a tantos de ustedes! La Diócesis de Green Bay está en la Fase II de la reapertura de
nuestras iglesias, por lo que cada iglesia puede permitir hasta el 25% de su capacidad de asientos tanto el fin
de semana como entre semana, lo que para la Iglesia de San José es de 85 personas.

Podemos preguntar a cien personas, "¿Qué es el amor?" y obten- er cien respuestas diferentes. Nuestra cultura y redes sociales han retorcido el amor en tantas descripciones diferentes, y ninguna de ellas está remotamente cerca del designio de amor de Dios. Así que conocer a Dios no es suficiente. También debemos tener la sabiduría para entender quién es Dios y qué quiere y por qué lo quiere. Ahora, volvamos a mi pregunta original, "¿Qué pediste"? ¿Sienten que habría complacido a Dios, como lo hizo Salomón? Lo que Salomón había pedido complacido a Dios porque no pidió algo que sólo le beneficiara. Benefició a los demás y fue por el bien de los demás. ¿Su petición haría eso? Si no lo hace, ¿qué debemos pedir? Jesús nos dice: "Pídale a mi Padre algo en mi nombre y el Padre lo concederá." Tenemos la misma oportunidad que Salomón tuvo. Nosotros también estamos llamados al servicio de los demás. Eso es amor y Dios es amor. Estamos aquí para dar gloria a Su nombre y no hay mejor manera que dar nuestra vida por un amigo. Tú y yo estamos llamados a invitar a Dios, y a Su Hijo, al corazón de todos los que pone en nuestra vida. Esta es la forma en que vivimos en Jesús y en El en nosotros. Debemos perseverar hasta el fin, no sea que perdamos el camino. A pesar de que Dios le había dado a Salomón un don mayor que nadie, si alguien había o lo habría hecho, Salomón todavía se alejó de la gracia de Dios, y se volvió al amor de muchas mujeres extranjeras. Debido a esto, el corazón de Salomón no estaba completamente con el Señor. Así que el Señor dijo: "Puesto que esto es lo que quieres, te privaré de tu reino, pero no en tu vida por el bien de tu padre, el rey David." Dios le qui- tó el reino al hijo de Salomón. Necesitamos recibir y guardar el don que Dios dio a Salomón. Entonces, ¿cómo nos abrimos para recibir dones de Dios? Todo comienza con la oración. Todo lo que hace- mos cuando nos dirigimos a Dios comienza con oraciones. Si estudiamos a Dios: leyendo la Biblia, asistiendo a los servicios de la iglesia, especialmente a la Misa, leyendo libros sobre santos, recibiendo los sacramentos a menudo, como la reconciliación y la Eucaristía, recibiendo la dirección espiritual de un sacerdote, y yendo a la adoración, comenzaremos a aprender acerca de Dios y obtendremos el conocimiento correcto de quién es. La sabiduría se mide en proporción a nuestro conocimiento de Dios. Cuanto más conocimiento tengamos, más sabiduría recibiremos. Por medio del don de la Sabiduría, entonc- es podemos entregar nuestra vida a El y amar en Su sabiduría. Este es el deseo de Dios de que nosotros, de vivir en El y de El en nosotros. Esta es la manera en que podemos acercarnos más a Dios y llevar a Dios a los demás".
