Virtue of the Week: I hope the children enjoyed the snow day yesterday. I am sorry that I couldn’t report it earlier, but I received the message about the road Foresight conditions at 6 AM. I immediately sent the Remind 101 message, posted on Facebook and on nbc25, abc12 and wnem5. He will inform us of the new date soon. Though many schools are taking Monday, January 17 off (Martin Luther King’s Day), St. Elizabeth Area Catholic School is in session. Please, ensure that the children dress warmly to be able to play outside weather permitting. This includes snow boots, gloves, and if possible, snow pants. Sometimes they do not bring a sweater under the jacket. They love playing outside but they feel cold when not wearing appropriate outside clothing. The Home & School meeting that was cancelled on Tuesday will be rescheduled. The date has to be determined. We will keep you posted. I received a notification from the Michigan Health Department regarding quarantine. “Students, teachers & staff who test positive for COVID-19 and/or display COVID-19 symptoms should isolate regardless of vaccination status: o If asymptomatic, monitor for symptoms for days 0 – 10; and o Isolate at home for days 0 – 5 (day “0” is day symptoms begin or day test was taken for those without symptoms); and o If symptoms have improved or no symptoms developed, return to school, while wearing a well-fitted mask, for days 6 -10; or o Stay home for days 0 - 10 if unwilling/unable to wear a mask. If you have a fever, stay home until you are fever free for a period of 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications. We ask that you add 8 th grader Quinn Tucker to your prayers as she mourns the death of her dad whose funeral is today. Preschool News from Mrs. Brown LitLi Hello, It has been another great week in preschool! We are so glad that Mrs. Brown is back this week for the afternoons. The preschoolers had a busy week; practicing writing their names, building puzzles, coloring lots of pictures, and playing together. Hannah Pike Friday January 14, 2022 Free Jean Day Kindergarten News from Mrs. Wolschleger Also Next week, I will be sending home a new reading log. On there End of 2nd marking period you will list any AR book that your student is ready to test on. Most books have an AR test for comprehension, but please Friday January 21, 2022 visit AR Book Finder on google to double check if you want. No worries if it comes back and it's not, we'll just try again next $2 Jean Day time. Most books will be .5 points and we will start with a goal Also of 5. St Elizabeth Parish Rectory Most students have selected what they want to be for our, Basement 6:30pm "Dress Like an Animal Day". If yours has not, I'd like to know by Monday so we can button down a date to dress up. Book Fair January 31, 2022 Thursday, we had a surprise day off but came in Friday ready to learn and be awesome! thru February 4, 2022 Working on a field trip to Frankenmuth to make pretzels. 3rd & 4th Grade News from Ms. Susalla We survived our first week back from break! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Next Friday, January 14th is the end of the 2nd marking period, AR goals are also due at this time. Please be sure your child is reading at least 15 minutes every night at home. This will also be a free jean day. Hopefully, by next week we will have the date we will be attending the Snowfest in Frankenmuth. When I have confirmation of the date, permission slips will be coming home. Be looking for those. 5th & 6th Grade News from Mrs. Mashike Hello! Due to the day off on Thursday, we will be taking our vocabulary quiz on Monday. Please make sure, your child studies for the quiz. We started reading Nothing But the Truth by Avi in reading today. When we finish, the students will be able to take an AR test on the book. While reading, we will also be doing various worksheets to make sure that they understand what the book is about. We are almost done with our social studies chapter, and we will be having a test next week. They spent this week working very hard on a project about a problem that the school and/or community is facing. They then presented it to Father Christian via a video that I sent to him. I am very proud of the work that they all put into it. Have a wonderful and Blessed weekend! 7th and 8th Grade News from Mrs. Lamb Our hearts are breaking for Quinn Tucker and her family as they bury her dad today. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this tremendously difficult time. Our heart lottery raffle tickets are being sold for five dollars apiece. You have a chance to win twice- we have two boards loaded with $100 of Michigan instant lottery tickets and a chocolate box. Most importantly you are helping the seventh and eighth grade class get to DC. Thank you for your generous support. Drawing is February 16th. That is going to be all for now, take care.
From the office – Friendly reminder; All payments are due before 9 am on Thursdays. Anything after that will not be entered until the follow Thursday. If you are writing checks, please make sure to write in the memo what the check is for. We have received many checks that don’t specify where they need to be applied. Writing in the memo will ensure your payment gets applied where you want it. Calling all volunteers!! I am looking for a few people to help with the book fair coming up.
