RED FROGS CANADA: SOUTH AFRICA 2017 WHY FESTIVALS Best Friends Since ‘97: Oppikoppi first began in 1994 and has grown to be South Africa’s largest music festival attracting thousands of young people. With over 150 acts across seven stages playing host to a large range of genres crowds have reached 20, 000 strong. Music is, and always will be, the great gatherer of people. Those who enjoy the same genre of music will naturally congregate together to experience it. Therefore, we are now witnessing some of the largest gatherings and concerts ever held. It is commonly known, that masses of people gathering in areas for musical entertainment brings with it concerns of drugs and alcohol consumption among our peers. It’s in this environment where we safeguard and influence this generation for good and for God. Our goal during Oppikoppi is to serve and support young people in the party culture and most importantly being present to offer emotional and spiritual support through what can often be a challenging week. The Dates August 2nd - August 10th *The date of August 2 and the 10th is subject to change by 2-3 days depending on best flights at time of purchase and the Oppikoppi event organizers confirming actual festival dates.
