2 Colonial Theatre | The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)[revised] Enjoy McQuade’s HEALTHY Prepared food From the Artistic Director I am honored to have been chosen to direct THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM with Shakespeare SHAKESPEARE (abridged)[revised], the Colonial Theatre’s 30th Anniversary summer production. We chose this revision of an earlier version of the play, produced by the Colonial in the Park Theatre in 2014, not only for its high entertainment value but also because of how seamlessly it works within a world still reeling from a pandemic. I have shared the stage with the actors you will see tonight and know this cast has the skill and wit to bring both compelling prose and zany comedy to our audiences. Pastoral Wilcox Park, our extraordinary production venue, is theatrical in itself, prompting us to the power of nature. The past 14 or so months have demonstrated nature’s fickle side. Yet as we nestle into our chairs or on our blankets for tonight’s show, we are amazed and reassured by the wonder of nature, community, connection, and the magic of live theatre. In the words of William Shakespeare, ‘One touch of nature makes the whole world kin’. If we must continue with caution, at least we can laugh aloud, rejoice in a shared humanity Fresh Cut together, outside, under a canopy of stars. THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM Fruit!
