RANTOUL RECREATION Kids Foundation of Rantoul The Recreation is proud to work alongside the Kid’s Foundation of Rantoul. They of- fer financial assistance for economically disadvantaged youth interested in participat- ing in the Rantoul Recreation Department youth activities and programs. The Kid’s Foundation will provide a voucher up to $40 that is good for THREE activities within the department. APPLY AT THE COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER 520 E. The Kid’s Foundation assists youth in kindergarten through 8th grade. We would like to thank the Kid’s Foundation and all that they do for the children in our community to help keep them active in activities and programs. Wabash Ave-5 surrounding ball diamonds and 4 batting cages, newer playground area, benches and picnic tables, pavilion, 6 tennis courts, and a skateboard park. Rudzinski Park-401 E. Grove-newly redone pond fully stocked with fish, bike path circles lake and extends east and west of park, pavilion with picnic tables, playground area for kids 4+ with plenty of shade. Mary Alice Park-221 James Rd-small neighborhood park with plenty of shade, play- ground that offers a merry go round and is handicap accessible, concrete pad for a basketball court, and a small gazebo in the back of the park. Grove St. Park-1000 block of E. Grove (behind Dairy Queen)-newly built playground for RANTOUL RECREATION ages 3+, 2 large umbrellas with picnic benches, swings located south of playground that in- cludes a handicap swing. Winston Park-1510 Gates Drive-residential park for kids of all ages, playground is handi- cap accessible with a concrete walk into a ramp entering playground area, swings for kids of all ages, including belt swings and child swings, benches located around playground. Heritage Lake-Large manmade lake, multiple islands with bridges connecting to sur- rounding land, small pavilions located around lake, a main pavilion , horseshoe pits, lots of picnic tables and grills. Fishing is welcome, but we ask you to catch and release. playground for ages 4+ is located near parking lot, Porta potties are located on south side of parking lot. Ryan Park-900 Clark St.-park is located off of bike path that extends east and west, play- ground is handicap accessible for ages 3+. North Dr. Park-700 North Dr.-A very large park that was renovated in summer of 2016, large field can be used for soccer, football, or letting your dog run (please clean up after pets), pavilion located in center of park that offers picnic tables, brand new basketball court with 217-893-5700 state of the art hoops, brand new handicap accessible playground for ages 3+, porta potty on site. Youth Center Park-1306 Country Club Ln-large areas that includes basketball courts located behind Youth Center facility, 2 tee-ball diamonds just east of the facility and can be used for kick ball as well, playground with lots of features, benches located around play area. PARKS & RECREATION 711 E. Perimeter Rd, Rantoul, IL 61866 Prairie Pines Campground is a great place to get away without going far away. Located on the south end of the previous Chanute Air Force Base, less than 2 miles away from the Forum Fitness Center and the Hap Parker Aquatic Center. Prairie Pines has easy access to Route 45 and Interstate 57. The campground has 95 lots available. PEAK SEASON: (April 1-Oct 31) each lot has hookups for electric, water, and sewage. The campground has restrooms, showers, and a coin operated laundry facility that are handicapped accessible. RANTOUL RECREATION Directions to campground If traveling on I-57 (exit 250), take Rt 136 east, turn left on Tanner St, turn right on Rt 45, proceed to Chandler Rd intersection, turn left at light, follow road and Prairie Pines Campground will be on left side of road. If traveling north on Rt 45, turn right at the Chandler Rd intersection. If traveling west on Rt 136, turn right on Century Blvd, proceed to Perimeter and Chandler Rd intersection, turn left at 4 way stop and Prairie Pines Campground will be on your left. Please be advised that GPS does not always give the easiest route, so please refer to these directions when coming into Rantoul. SEASON POOL PASSES HAP PARKER FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER Passes go on sale May 1 Want to get more bang for your buck? Look into a season pass. We offer passes for individuals, seniors (65+), and families. Having a season pass comes with some great benefits, unlimited entry to the facility, free adult lap swim and water aerobics. All pass holders must have a current photo on file. Each pass holder will receive their own key fob. Having a key fob will allow quick access into the pool—just scan and enter. Only family members will be allowed to be on a family pass. To obtain a pass for someone not in your family, please read the info on our punch pass. Kids must be 14 years of age or older to come to the pool by themselves. HAP PARKER FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER SWIM LESSONS We are proud to offer Red Cross approved swim lessons, taught by our Red Cross certified lifeguards. Swim lessons play an important role in the lives of children, they can save a life or help with getting the child comfortable with the idea of being in water. We make sure to offer an environment where everyone feels safe and comfortable getting in the pool. We offer 3 two week sessions, each session runs Mon-Thurs with 45 minute classes. Please look over the dates and times below to determine which session will work for your child. All sessions are for 2 weeks, we do not pro-rate, children not completing the full 2 week session will not be allowed to advance to the next level. PRIVATE LESSONS Please contact the manager on duty to inquire about private lessons and they can get you in contact with one of our certified lifeguards. The Recreation Department does not handle private lessons. Please sign up for Notify Me in case of cancellations due to inclement weather. Our swim team offers children to become part of a team, while improving their skills in the water. Practices are held every weekday morning throughout the season and coaches will help with building self-confidence and gain endurance in the water. The Hurricanes are a part of the Central Swim Conference. No other crowds, no long lines for the water slides. Pool renters are allowed to take advantage of our Family RANTOUL RECREATION Night rules. PAVILION RENTAL Our pavilion is located in the lawn area of the facility and makes a great location for a birthday party. Go ahead and swim for a while and then come over to the pavilion and do your celebrating. The pavilion is available in 2 hour increments during open weekend hours and we allow cake and 217-893-5700 individual juices or bottles of water to be brought in for the occasion (the concession stand will store in fridge). Games played in Rantoul will be played at Wabash Park which offers multiple diamonds, a concession stand, and restrooms. Volunteer to Coach Our baseball leagues are coached by volunteer coaches, this is a way to provide programs at a lower cost to our community, while helping guide and mentor our youth. While we do greatly appreciate our volunteers, we do require that volunteers follow our policies, procedures, and our code of conduct. Tee-ball is offered to 6 year olds, to help them develop skills and have fun. Season typically runs through the month of June. All games are played at the Tee-ball fields located next to the Youth Center. Volunteer to Coach RANTOUL RECREATION Our baseball leagues are coached by volunteer coaches, this is a way to provide programs at a lower cost to our community, while helping guide and mentor our youth. While we do greatly appreciate our volunteers, we do require that volunteers follow our policies, procedures, and our code of conduct. YOUTH SPORTS TEE-BALL CAMP TEE-BALL CAMP This camp is open to all children ages 4-5 with no tee-ball experience. The camp is designed to help children get familiar with Tee-ball and help them with their coordination and skills of the game. They will work on hitting off of a tee, fielding balls, and running. Camp is held in the Youth Center Gymnasium and each session runs for 45 minutes. A camp t-shirt and tee-ball are provided at the completion of the camp. FORUM FITNESS CENTER ADULT SPORTS LEAGUES Rantoul Recreation Department 2018 Co-Rec Softball Rules Team and Players: A. Each team will be allowed unlimited players. There is no participant fee. Team rosters will be open. B. Players are eligible if they are at least 14 years old and have not played on another team during the season. C. PLAYERS MAY ONLY PLAY ON ONE TEAM PER LEAGUE. The Game: A. Any type of shoes with metal or steel cleats are prohibited. B. Seven (7) innings will constitute a complete game. There will be a sixty (60) minute time limit on all RANTOUL RECREATION games. No new inning will begin once the sixty (60) minute time limit has expired; Inning underway will be played to its completion. If inning is tied after completion, it will remain a tie in the league standings. Tournament games are an exception of this rule. In case of bad weather or other circumstances during regular season requiring the umpires to call a game, it will be considered complete if four (4) or more innings are completed. (3 ½ if the home team is ahead.) During tournament games, in case of bad weather or other circumstances requiring the umpires to call a game it will be postponed if four (4) or less innings are completed. C. A game can be played with 8, 10, or 12 players. If a team is short they may begin with 8 players (4 females, 4 males – no exceptions). D. 5 males and 5 females play on the field at one time. The batting order must alternate (m-f-m-f-m- f). E. The Co-Rec league will use the “additional hitter” (AH) rule. At the beginning of each game the manager will have the option of using 12 hitters in the batting order (1 extra male and 1 extra female). The AH rule may only be used at the start of the game and must be used for the entire game. If the AH rule is used (12 hitters), any 10 players may take the field to play defense each inning. The re-entry rule is still in effect for all 12 hitters. If a team begins a game with 12 players (2 additional hitters), and a player is either ejected or injured and must leave the game, that team must then play with 10 players. F. Substitution is by sex only. (A male for a male, a female for a female). The re-entry rule will be used. 217-893-5700 G. The ten (10) run rule will be in effect after five (5) innings. The fifteen (15) run rule will be in effect after four (4) innings. The twenty (20) run rule will be in effect after three (3) innings. H. Game time is forfeit time. There is no grace period. Lineups are due to the scorekeeper ten (10) minutes prior to the start of the game. I. Only one (1) umpire will be used to make all decisions. Please respect his/her judgment. The mat provided will be used to constitute balls or strikes. All pitches hitting any part of the mat will be a strike. If the pitch hits home plate it will be ruled a strike. J. There will be no pre-game infield practice allowed by any team, which includes the 1 st game also. K. All batters will start with an automatic one (1) ball and one (1) strike count when they step into the box. Continued on page 37 Page 47

Players may advance on the base paths following the standard Tag-up rules on a caught foul ball. M. Any team forfeiting two (2) consecutive games will be eliminated from the league for the remainder of the season unless that team contacts the Recreation Department 48 hours prior to their next game. N. PLEASE NOTE: female batters must take their turn at bat at all times unless there are two outs. If a male batter walks with 2 outs (intentional or non-intentional) the female batter has her choice of batting or taking a walk. A male batter will always go to second base when walked and runners on base will advance. RANTOUL RECREATION O. Softballs will be alternated. Male batters will use an 11” incrediball and female batters will use and 11” regular softball. P. PLEASE NOTE: There will be a progressive home run limit per team per game. The progressive rule is that each team will be allowed to hit 3 home runs per game. Once either team reaches the 3 home run hit maximum, no more home runs will be allowed until the other team reaches the 3 home run maximum. After both teams reach the 3 home run total, each team will be allowed 1 more home run. If both teams reach the 4 home run total, each team will then be allowed 1 more home run, and so on. Any home run over the limit will result in an out. Q. In an effort to avoid players colliding, home plate for the runners will be the mat. The catchers will still use home plate. GROUND RULES: A. Any fair ball hit on the fly over the outfield fence (designated the home run fence) will be a home fun. B. A ball hit on the bounce and in fair territory over the fence or through the fence will be a double. APPEALS: A. The ASA rule book will be followed in the case of protest. The protest must be submitted in 217-893-5700 writing by 9:00AM the following day to the Recreation Department. RECREATION DEPARTMENT RULES: A. No alcoholic beverages permitted on city property. B. Unsportsmanlike conduct towards officials WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Team managers are responsible for their players conduct on and off the field. There will be a special attempt to halt the swearing and unsportsmanlike language on the field. Penalty will be ejection from the game. C. Blood Rule: If there is noticeable blood on a player or coach or on a player’s or coach’s uniform the game will be stopped by the umpire until the bleeding is stopped and covered or the uniform is replaced or covered. The length of the time the game will be stopped is up to the judgement of the umpire. Page 48
