Community Events Page 13 SEPTEMBER SOCIAL and BY THE POOL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH | 1:00 PM | POOLSIDE HOW TO PLAY CORNHOLE | SCORING PLAY OF THE GAME Every match is broken down into innings of play. During an inning of play, each player must pitch all four of his/her bags. An inning is never completed until all players pitch all four of his/her bags. SINGLES CORNHOLE MATCHES Two single players compete against one another until a single winner is determined. •Both players stay in their designated lane for the whole game. •Players start the game at the headboard and will alternate pitching bags until each player has pitched all four of his/her bags. •Players then walk to the end of their lane to the other court, take score, and resume pitching back to the other board. •The top of an inning is completed when the first player pitches all four bags; the bottom of the inning is completed when the remaining player pitches all four bags. DOUBLES CORNHOLE MATCHES Two teams, consisting of two players, compete against one another until a winning team is determined. •Each team will stay in its designated lane for the whole game. •Players at the headboard will alternate pitching bags until each player has pitched all four of his/her bags. •Players at the footboard will take score and resume pitching back to the other board. •The top of an inning is completed when both players pitching from the headboard pitch all four bags; the bottom of the inning is completed when the remaining players pitching from the footboard pitch all four bags. SCORING The approved method of scoring for the sport of cornhole is “cancellation” scoring. In cancellation scoring, the points of one player cancel out the points of their opponent. Using this method, only one player/team can score in each inning. •Bag In-The-Count (Woody) : Any bag which comes to rest anywhere on top of the board. Each is worth one (1) point. •Bag In-The-Hole (Cornhole) : Any bag which is thrown through the hole or knocked through the hole by another bag. Each is worth three (3) points. •Foul Bags – Refers to any bag that has not been determined as Bag In-The-Count or Bag In-The Hole or was designated a foul bag as the result of rules violation. Community Update Page 16 The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) Adrianne Bendich and Fran Strauss The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) has the responsibility to help ensure that the external features of your home and property (front, sides, and back) conform to Guidelines that have been agreed upon by our HOA. When you submit your application, the ARC determines if your changes conform with those Guidelines. It is therefore in YOUR BEST INTEREST to read the Guidelines so you will know even before you apply if your application will meet the Guidelines. Our small Committee (of four homeowners) has been reviewing about 15-25 applications/month, and inspecting the work after it is completed, Your application is not the only one we have to review and inspect. Please help us do our work efficiently – we are your neighbors and want to assist you, but we need your help. When submitting an ARC APPLICATION FORM: •Consult the ARC Guidelines that are found on the Buena Vida HOA website. Follow all of the application sections and ALWAYS attach a copy of your plot plan (survey) and mark where your changes will go. This is your responsibility, not your contractor’s. •When applicable, include color photos and names of the plants to be placed in your landscape. Diagrams should be clear and concise. Any application without a required lot survey will be rejected. •All attachments MUST come from the Homeowner. Contractors should direct their information/drawings, etc. to the Homeowner and not bring or mail these to the office. •It is the Homeowner's responsibility to ensure the application is complete. Several applications have been rejected because of an incomplete submission. It is not management's responsibility to call Homeowners or track their paperwork when it is not handed in properly. •If the Homeowner is unsure of what's necessary to have a complete application, call the office at 561-422-9191 x260) for help. Don't wait until there's an application denial. •Note: applications are due to be submitted at the office by noon on the Friday before the ARC meeting. See the meeting scheduling information below. When to attend an ARC MEETING: •ARC meetings are held twice per month. Generally, with exceptions, the meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, starting at 9:30 am. In September, the meetings will be held on September 9th and 23rd . •Please attend the ARC meeting when your application is discussed (email Mariah Castro: mariah.castro@castlegroup.com - or call her: 561-422-9191 x260 and let her know you plan to attend). It's not unusual for there to be questions on applications that can be resolved at the ARC meeting. The ARC members are looking to help applicants get through the ARC process. It's certainly easier to do so if the application is submitted correctly.
Page 17 2021 ARC Meeting Dates The ARC meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month except for November and December. Applications are due on Friday by noon, before the week of the meeting.
