August Run Write Up Mt Alford Combined Club Run Our August club run turned on the sunshine for us, it was a lovely morning, had to move a few things from back of EL as Steph & Lillian decided to come for a drive with us. Bob & I took the XY while they went in the El as it hadn’t been out of the shed since coming back from Nationals. We headed off to Goodna meeting point with a stop at HJ’s for Breakie as Bob doesn’t like Maccers. We meet up with others and also a potential new member and a customer of ours at work Dave O’Shea. I got onto David Roads when he arrived and asked if he had any m/ship forms on him and got Dave joined up before he even went on his first run . We headed off up the highway a little bit spread out but we all court up eventually, bloody traffic. We turned off at Yamanto then headed to Boonah and our destination at Mt Alford Pub. Travelling in a small convoy through a very dry countryside you realise that you don’t even have to travel way out west to see the effects of the drought it’s close to home. After arriving at our destination were the rest of the early arrivals were already relaxed and having a drink. A surprise guest from a old member from Clermont who happened to be in Brizzie that weekend, great to see you Tom Mifsud. We all got in and ordered lunch and for a few off us that took a while to arrive, a few more drinks catch up chats with friends and for Bob a play in the park with Lilly the day came to an end and everyone started to head for home.

The lawyer said, "Well, I met with your wife today, and she informed me that she has invested only $5,000 in two very nice pictures that she thinks will bring somewhere between $15 and $20 million...and I think she could be right." Paul replied enthusiastically, "Holy cow!! Well done!! My wife is a brilliant business woman, isn't she? You've just made my day. Now, I know I can handle the bad news. What is it?" The others dribbled in over the rest of the day and some arrived on Saturday. Friday Night was the usual beer and pizza and car talk (the girls don’t call it talk; they use a word beginning with B). Saturday morning was free to visit the markets and wander around town. We met up again at the Jubilee Pocket Tavern for lunch and just a couple of lights with a light quiz, this time hosted by Jason. We’re not too sure just who write the oddest quiz questions, Peter or Jason but no-one got 100% in this one! Saturday night was a BBQ in the camp kitchen, well organised by Peter with plenty of good tucker and what do you know - another quiz presented by Jason, I think Peter has created a monster here (keep it up boys). Shakey kindly organised the fire pit for us, sniffing out an old cache of firewood hidden in the bushes. Sunday morning was BBQ brekkie in the camp kitchen, supplied by Peter and cooked up by Shane,
Brett and Mick. Many members needed to take off early so we assembled out the front for some pics and headed off. Tony & Michelle, Bryan & Andrea, Bill and Liz, Shane & Barbie, Brett, Mick & Vicki stopped off at Conway Tourist Park on the way home for a coffee, the off home to clean the cars and take a nanna nap. A great time was had by all that attended

Well doneto Jacques for taking home Best Modern and Brian for taking home Most Original. Great turn out By Mick M
