THE 53RD MEMBERSHIP APPRECIATION &
Saturday, March 27, 2021.
The Purpose of Annual Meeting
Every credit union has an Annual Meeting once a year. This meeting gives 705
FCU the opportunity to fill you in on any changes that have happened since the
last Annual Meeting. The main purpose is to announce the newly elected board
of directors. 705 FCU has a voluntary Board of Directors that you, as members,
elect. Choosing the leaders gives you the ability to have a say in the choices
made and how the credit union is run. This event also gives us a concrete way to
say “thank you” for your credit union membership.

Adjourn Meeting – Dennis MarksKailon Babineaux, daughter of Kervin and Michelle Babineaux, is a UL Lafayette student with a focus in Early Childhood Education with a 3.8 GPA. She plans to attend ULL for her masters in Educational Leadership or Curriculum. To say Kailon is well-rounded would be an understatement! She is a full-time student and works part-time as a UL student worker in the Office for Campus Diversity, a dance teacher, LPSS substitute teacher, and personal tutor. Kailon participates in the below community service and extracurricular activities: Vice President of National Pan-Hellenic Council (2020 – present), Order of Omega Treasurer (2021 – present), Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Secretary (2020 – present), Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Lead Summer Camp, St. Joseph’s Diner, Second Harvest Food Bank, New Hope Mentoring and Tutor Program, Kappa Delta Pi, Student Discipline Committee, MLK Jr. Association, National Society for Leadership and Success, Brand Ambassador for Acadiana Fashion Week, Seaux Fly, and the MLK Jr. Association. She has received the following awards: TOPS, Miss MLK Queen (2018), Miss Selma Jubilee Queen (2018), Dean’s List, President’s List , Miss Zeta Xi Queen for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity (2019), Scholarship for America, and Miss Black Louisiana USA (2020.) Kailon plans to teach and eventually become an administrator to help the education system become the best it can be! Colette Boudreaux, daughter of Brandy and Chad Boudreaux, is a Southeastern Louisiana University student majoring in Marketing with a concentration in Professional Sales with a 3.41 GPA. Colette is a full-time student and works part-time for the Universal Cheerleaders Association. She is involved in the following extracurricular activities: Phi Mu Sorority, Phi-Mu Sisterhood Committee Head, Sexual Violence Unmasked, and is a Southeastern LA University Cheerleader. She has received the following honors and academic awards: President’s List (2020), Dean’s List (2019), TOPS Performance Award, and Southeastern Academic Scholarship. Her professor described Collette as “worthy of this award because of her strong character and how well she works with others. She has a good head on her shoulders and will be successful in whatever path she takes.” Colette’s goal is to become a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. With the combination of skill, talent, and perseverance, we are sure Colette will make her ambitions a reality! Anaya Janae Cormier, daughter of Bridgette Cormier, is an Early College Academy senior with a 3.66 GPA. The Early College Academy is a school where students can earn up to 60 college credit hours and receive an associate degree. She will graduate with a high school diploma and South Louisiana Community College with an associate degree in May. She plans to attend Louisiana Tech University in the Fall as a Mathematics major with a minor in Secondary Education. Anaya has been involved in the following extracurricular activities and community service: Girl Scouts of America, Louisiana Delegate and Treasurer for the first all African American Girl Scouts troop, led Empowerment Workshops for Girls Scouts, School Supply Giveaway Volunteer, Yearbook Club, Volunteer Club, Children’s Museum volunteer, and Mt. Calvary Church Sunday School Teacher. She has received the following honors: National Honor Society, Chancellor’s List, Dean’s List, Principal’s List, Girl Scout’s Bronze Award, and Girl Scout’s Silver Award. Anaya hopes to become a Math Teacher to “teach and set an example of how women can thrive in STEM occupations despite the gender gap.” What a great example for young girls! Wishing you the best of luck on your endeavors. Ayana Janise Cormier, daughter of Bridgette Cormier, is an Early College Academy senior with a 3.83 GPA. The Early College Academy is a school where students can earn up to 60 college credit hours and receive an associate degree. She will graduate with a high school diploma and South Louisiana Community College with an associate degree in May. She will attend Loyola University as an English Writing major and Education Certification. She works part-time as a Depop seller. Ayana has been involved in the following extracurricular and community activities: Volunteer Club, Shop Small volunteer, Girl Scouts Empowerment Workshop Leader, Selling Girl Scout Cookies, and Girl Scouts of America. She has earned the following honors and academic awards: National Honors Society, Beta Club, Chancellor’s List, Principal’s List, Dean’s List, and the recipient of the Girls Scout’s Bronze and Silver Award. Ayana plans to become an English teacher. She describes her passion by stating “I have all intentions to achieve and strive continuously to build an atmosphere through my work and teaching where black kids and teens feel safe and free to explore and dream. I hope that they see through me that they can be anything and do anything that they put their mind to.” What a beautiful sentiment! I know we can expect great things from Ayana and the impact she will make on the community. Hannah Evans, daughter of Tony and Stephanie Evans, is a high school senior at Lafayette Christian Academy with a 3.96 GPA. Hannah plans to attend UL Lafayette with a focus in Biology in the Fall. She is extremely involved in the following extracurricular activities: Beta Club, National Honors Society, Student Government Association Historian, 4-H, LCA Chapel Band, participated in Miles Perret Cancer Center Fund Raiser, attended Beta Club State Convention, LCA’s Audience of One Theatre Club, Library Club, Louisiana All State Youth Choir, Point Church (Pianist, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School Worship Leader), LifePoint Church Pianist, awarded Superior and Superior Plus at Technique Tournament and Rally at ULL, and works as Piano teacher. Sarah Dupuis, LCA High School Advisor, describes Hannah by stating: “I strongly believe that her perseverance, intellectual ability, and enthusiasm for learning are qualities that will no doubt contribute to a positive and efficacious future.” We have no doubt you have a bright future ahead of you, Hannah!
Madison Lee, daughter of Joseph Lee Jr. and Desha Lee, is a graduating Lafayette High School Senior with a 3.87 GPA. She plans to attend Dillard University in the Fall with a focus in Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Her goal is to one day become a Software Engineer. She a full-time student and works part-time as a Sales Associate at Designer Shoe Warehouse. Madison is involved in the following extracurricular activities: Marching Band (Field Staff/ Section Leader), Junior Daughters (Secretary), Beta Club, French Immersion Program member, Key Club, Le Cercle Francais, Wind Ensemble (First Chair Contrabass Clarinet), Symphonic Band (First Chair Bass Clarinet), Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (Council Woman), Junior Daughters (Secretary), Gear Up Program, Math Camp, STEM Camp, and Congressional App Challenge (Team Lead.) She has also received the following academic awards: National Honors Society, The National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, won 1st place for the State French Writing Competition titled ALCFES (Association Louisianaise des Clubs de Francais des Ecoles Secondaires.) TOPS Honors Scholarship, CGI Innovation Award, and Dillard University Scholarship. Lafayette High School Teacher, Mario Charest, stated “I am convinced that Madison will make a valuable contribution to our community, and we will all benefit in the future by investing in her now.” Asia Narcisse, daughter of Dana Benoit, is a graduating senior at David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy with a 3.0 GPA. She plans to attend LSU in the Fall with a focus in Criminology. She is a full-time student, she also works part-time at McDonald’s and Hamilton Academy of the Arts Dance Teacher Assistant. Asia has been involved in the following extracurricular activities throughout her high school: David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy Dance Team Co-Captain, Hamilton Academy of the Arts National Honors Society of Dance (Member, Secretary, and Vice President), Color Guard member, Health Occupations Students of America member, Food Bank Volunteer, Dancers Against Cancer fundraiser, donated masks to hospital workers during COVID-19, Make a Difference Day sponsor, Kids Fest volunteer, Love Your Body Week volunteer, Spanish Club, Junior Daughter, served as secretary for a conference titled African American Catholic Youth Congress, and won 1st and 2nd place with her team competition at Disney World. While pursuing her degree at LSU, she plans to audition for the LSU Tigers Girls Dance Team. Her goal is to one day be a detective and open a dance studio. One thing is for sure, Asia’s future is bright! Malcolm Russell, son of James and Monica Russell, is a student at South Louisiana Community College with a focus in Digital Media Design with a 3.91 GPA. Malcolm is a full-time student and part-time employee at Domino’s Pizza. He has been involved in the following school activities and received the following awards: National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) at South Louisiana Community College, NSLS Foundation of Leadership Certification, Chancellor’s List, and Dean’s List. Charles Knippen, President of the National Society of Leadership and Success describes Malcolm by saying “In order to achieve induction in the NSLS, Malcolm committed to attending leadership training, training focused on collaborative teamwork, goal setting, high achievement, leadership skills and styles, self-motivation, and accountability. These exemplary qualities are aligned with employees who are posed for success.” His ultimate goal is to be a graphic designer, filmmaker, cinematographer, and business owner. Best of luck in all you do! John-Michael Shiner, son of Karl and Teilla Shiner, is a graduating senior from Erath High School with a 4.0 GPA. He plans to attend either Tulane University or LSU with a focus in Biological Sciences and plans to become an Anesthesiologist. He is a part of the LSU Dual Enrollment Program for Math and English courses. John-Michael has been involved in the following extracurricular activities throughout his high school career: Student Council Executive Board, Student Council Class Officer, Beta Club, 4-H Club, Speech Team, attended Speech tournaments, Math Club, Interact Club, Rally Team, attended the ULL District Rally Competition, 4-H Parish Junior Leaders, 4-H Parish Shooting Sports, various Student Council Committees, LASC Louisiana Association of Student Councils Summer Workshop Delegate, LASC State Convention, Beta Club National Convention Delegate, 4-H University State Delegate, American Legion Oratorical Contests (District & State), Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Voice of Democracy Contests (Local & District), Football Team, Soccer Team (Soccer Captain), Baseball Team, Powerlifting Team, Track Team, Cross Country Team, Boy Scouts Troop 98, Eagle Scout, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Alter Server (5th – 12th grade.) He has received the following honors and academic awards: Principal's Award (4.0 GPA for 1st – 12th Grade), EHS Student of the Year, Vermillion Parish Student of the Year, Louisiana Regional Student of the Year Finalist, ACT National Rank Recipient (Ranked 96% Platinum Composite in US), 32 ACT Composite score, ranked number 1 in his class, Beta Club National Qualifier (Robotics, Service-Learning Showcase, Color Photography, Campaign Skit, & Speech), American Legion State Oratorical Contest Winner, Catholic Youth Leadership Award/ Scholarship, Beta Club National Scholarship Semi-Finalist, Beta Club Robbie Scott State Scholarship Finalist, Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy District 2nd Place Winner, 4-H State Ambassador 2nd Place Contest Winner, 4-H Parish Ambassador Contest 1st Place Winner, LA Youth Leadership Virtual Seminar, ULL District Academic Rally Team Winner (Participant and winner for 3 years), Speech Team Tournament Winner, Beta Club State Convention Winner, and Speech Team Tournament Winner. Wow! I am not sure when John-Michael sleeps. To say his high school resume is impressive would be an understatement.
