Welcome Hockey SA is pleased to host the 2021 SA State Country Championships. The State Country Championships were reintroduced to the season calendar in 2014. The event continues to provide an opportunity for our regional athletes, umpires, and officials to come together and represent their relevant associations and compete to be named the winning Men’s and Women’s association for the year. Continued participation in this event by our regional associations will contribute to the promotion of Hockey in regional areas, assist in the identification of talent, improve and strengthen South Australian country associations and local competitions, whilst giving senior players an opportunity to continue representing their associations at a state level. The championship is also part of the selection process for the South Australian Country Men’s and Women’s Teams who will compete at the Australian National Championships in Albury WA in August 2021. Our last event was held in 2019 with COVID restrictions preventing the event in 2020. This year we will have 7 men’s and women’s teams battling it out to get their association names on the trophy next to the 2019 winners: Men Lower South East Women Port Pirie and District We look forward to hosting you at Mate Stadium for a great weekend of hockey but if you can’t make it in person The Advertiser will be live streaming games on both days including the finals.
