Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord April 5, 2015
A Letter from Our Pastor
Today we celebrate Easter. Easter is the primary feast and celebration of our Christian
faith and our Catholic Church. The early Christians recognized in the Lord's Day
(Sunday) the proper time to truly celebrate God's glory and majesty. They quickly broke
from Jewish tradition which placed the "Sabbath" on Saturday. Christians looked to
Sunday, the day of the Lord's resurrection as the day of worship.
Every Sunday celebration is a "mini-Easter", a calling to mind of the great events of Easter, when Christ in
rising from the dead broke the chains of death and won salvation for all who longed for deliverance.
For us today, it is a celebration of many things: spring, baptism, new birth and life. However, all of these
celebrations find their meaning in the ultimate gift of God's merciful grace in the resurrection of his
Son. There is an old Christian hymn by Johann Mentzer which speaks the words we feel in our hearts:
"O that I had a thousand voices
To praise my God with thousand tongues!
My heart, which in the Lord rejoices,
Would then proclaim in grateful songs
To all, wherever I might be,
What great things God has done for me!
You forest leaves so green and tender
That dance for joy in summer air,
Your meadow grasses, bright and slender,
Your flow'rs so fragrant and so fair,
You live to show God's praise alone.
Join me to make his glory known!
All creatures that have breath and motion,
That throng the earth, the sea, the sky,
Come, share with me my heart's devotion,
Help me to sing God's praises high!
My utmost pow'rs can never quite
Declare the wonders of his might.
This Easter we should all be so grateful. Our songs cannot truly express the glory due to God, the longing
and love we feel in our hearts. Just as Easter resonates every time we celebrate Sunday Mass, so it should
truly resonate and live in our hearts every day forward. God bless you all on this joyous day!

Carta de Nuestro Pastor
Hoy celebramos la Pascua. La Pascua es la fiesta principal y celebración de nuestra fe cristiana de
nuestra Iglesia Católica. Los primeros cristianos reconocieron el Día del Señor (domingo) el momento
adecuado para celebrar verdaderamente la gloria y majestad de Dios. Rápidamente rompieron con la tradición
judía, que pospuso al "sábbath", el sábado. Los Cristianos cayeron en cuenta que el domingo, día de la
resurrección del Señor como el día de adoración. La celebración de cada domingo es una "mini-Pascua", un
llamado a razonar en los grandes acontecimientos de Pascua, cuando Cristo resucitando entre los muertos
rompió las cadenas de la muerte y ganó la salvación para todos los que anhelaban la liberación.
Para nosotros hoy, es una celebración de muchas cosas: primavera, bautismo, nuevo nacimiento y la
vida. Sin embargo, todas estas celebraciones encuentran su sentido en el último regalo de la gracia
misericordiosa de Dios en la resurrección de su Hijo. Hay un viejo himno cristiano de Johann Mentzer que
habla las palabras que sentimos en nuestros corazones:
"¡Oh, si yo tuviera mil voces Únete a mí para hacer su gloria conocida!
Para alabar a mi Dios con mil lenguas! Todas las criaturas que tienen respiración
Mi corazón, que en el Señor se regocija, y movimiento,
Entonces proclamaría en canciones agradecidas Esa multitud de tierra, mar, cielo,

Esta Pascua todos debemos estar muy agradecidos. Nuestras canciones no pueden realmente expresar
la debida gloria a Dios, el anhelo y el amor que sentimos en nuestros corazones. Así como la Pascua resuena
cada vez que celebramos la misa del domingo, por lo que verdaderamente debe resonar y vivir en nuestros
corazones cada día en adelante. Dios los bendiga a todos en este día de júbilo!

El primer día de la semana, María Magdalena fue al sepulcro al
amanecer, cuando aún estaba oscuro, y vio la losa quitada del
sepulcro. Echó a correr y fue donde estaba Simón Pedro y el otro
discípulo, a quien tanto quería Jesús, y les dijo: "Se han llevado del
sepulcro al Señor y no sabemos dónde lo han puesto." Salieron
Pedro y el otro discípulo camino del sepulcro. Los dos corrían
juntos, pero el otro discípulo corría más que Pedro; se adelantó y
llegó primero al sepulcro; y, asomándose, vio las vendas en el suelo;
pero no entró. Llegó también Simón Pedro detrás de él y entró en el
sepulcro: vio las vendas en el suelo y el sudario con que le habían
cubierto la cabeza, no por el suelo con las vendas, sino enrollado en un sitio aparte. Entonces entró
también el otro discípulo, el que había llegado primero al sepulcro; vio y creyó. Pues hasta entonces
no habían entendido la Escritura: que él había de resucitar de entre los muertos.
