River City CYCLING CLASSIC August 14 & 15, 2021 Racers, Welcome to the “second-inaugural” River City Cycling Classic (RC3)! While COVID may have beat-up the race calendar in 2020, 2021 is a new year and we look forwar to safely hosting our omnium and providing an event for everyone to enjoy. Our goal as the Inland Empire cycling community is to provide a race of exceptional competitiveness and quality that will serve as the capstone of the road racing season here and serve as a segue into the cyclocross season. We believe that a healthy season of road racing should last through the spring, summer, and into the fall months. There is no better time to race than under the sunny blue skies and perfect temperatures offered in abundance here. Also, we believe we have some of the best roads to race on in the entire region, and we want to showcase what we have to offer on this side of the state. The team that is putting this together is still rather new. So, this event is serving two purposes. First, to provide the race, and second, to provide our team training on how to organize a race like this. With this newfound knowledge and experience, we hope to provide even more races in the future to help strengthen and unify our community. The great news is we’re young (we’re claiming 30s and 40s as youthful, because we can), and we’re not going anywhere for quite some time. RC3 is only the beginning folks. Hold tight while we take the reins and figure out how to drive this wagon train. ~ Team RC3 Washington State Bicycling Association CHAMPIONSHIPS RC3 RC3 has been selected to host the following regional championships! Master/Senior Road Race Championships (Liberty Road Race) Master Criterium Championships (Riverbend Criterium) USA Cycling Permit: #2021-3457 | Facebook: @RCCyclingClassic | IG: river.city.cycling

Addendums Current as of August 8, 2021 COVID Protocol • All sign-in locations and activities will be held outdoors • Hand sanitizer will be made available at sign-in locations and portable restrooms • As of today, both Spokane (time trial and road race) and Kootenai Counties (criterium) are listed as having High levels of community transmission – along with most of the country • Per CDC guidance, except in certain circumstances, people who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 should quarantine Resources https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view https://covid.srhd.org/topics/current-phase Air Quality Watch You, our racers, and our amazing volunteer’s safety are of utmost concern. As such the RC3 planning and officiating teams have been closely monitoring the smoke and air quality situation in the Spokane area. Conditions have been steadily improving and we hope they continue to trend positively! However, per Spokane Regional Health District guidance and in conferring with our USAC Chief Referee, we do plan to cancel any individual event and/or the full Omnium should conditions be “Unhealthy” (e.g. 151+ AQI) as listed on Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency’s website at the start of the event. Clearly this is completely outside of our control – something we’re all quite accustomed to over the last year and a half – and while we hope to provide guidance as early as possible should we believe we may reach Unhealthy levels for the event, smoke/air quality forecasts are limited and can change quickly. We understand and respect everyone is making financial investments in registration, lodging and/or travel and will do our best to provide guidance as soon as possible should we have to cancel. Should we have to cancel, we will provide additional guidance at that time on ability to transfer registrations to 2022 and/or provide refunds to the extent that we are able. RC3
