SUMMER EMPLOYMENT Parks and Recreation: Camp Counselor Springfield Parks and Recreation is now accepting applications for Kidz Klubhouse Camp Counselors. Team members will lead, support, and motivate campers as they enjoy all that camp has to offer. Counselors will help plan schedules and lead group events. Applicants should be positive, proactive, and caring while focusing on giving campers a fun, safe camp experience. Applicants must be at at least 15 years old by the start of the position. Interested applicants must contact the Director of Parks and Recreation via email for a job application. Application are accepted on a rolling basis. SUMMER EMPLOYMENT Public Works: Summer Laborer Springfield Township is accepting letters for the Refuse/Highway Laborer Summer Seasonal Position. This is an hourly position with a daily work schedule 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday, for a total of 40 hours/week, May through August. The candidate will work under the close supervision of the Director of Public Works. Responsibilities include collecting, emptying and returning the refuse and recycling containers to the curb as well as cleaning and maintaining refuse vehicles, equipment and related duties. Note: this position requires applicants to be at least 18 years old by the start date of the position. A letter expressing interest in this position, including a brief summary, detailing your capabilities (i.e., experience, knowledge, skills) should be received by the Public Works Department no later than March 31, 2021. Anxious? Need self-care? Each class focuses on an uplifting, therapeutic theme and the importance of the alignment, flexibility, strength and centering. Through guided mindful meditation, and yoga poses, students feel present and at ease in both body and mind, slowing down to feel and release the monkey mind, tension or stress, while gaining poise, strength, posture, and ease. Martial Arts with Paul Schmidt Martials Arts classes are held throughout the year. Please reference RecDesk for specific dates and fees. Days and Times: Saturdays from 9:30 am - 10:30 am Days and Times: Mondays from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Location: Recreation Center B Age: 7 – Adult Springfield Martial Arts emphasizes traditional Isshinryu Karate, self-defense judo, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Additionally, this martial arts session will integrate cardiovascular training, wellness and philosophy of excellence by habit. Students develop self-discipline, mindfulness, goal-settings skills and respect for themselves and others. Parents are encouraged to enroll with their child for a shared experience. Students and instructors will wear masks and be distanced about 20 feet away from each other inside the rec center; weather permitting, classes may be moved outside to the adjacent park. 9

American Red Cross Babysitting Certification Course Dates: Saturday, April 17 Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Location: Recreation Center B Age: 11 - 15 (Must be 11 years old by the date of the class) Fee: $75 Resident / $85 Non-Resident This certification course provides teens with the confidence and skills to care for youngsters. Prospective employers will be happy to hire babysitters who have acquired this official recognition. Upon completion of the course, you will receive an American Red Cross Certification Card. You must attend the entire course, pass the evaluations, and show the maturity to properly care for children. Please bring a lunch, pencil and snack. 12
Shining Knight: Afterschool Chess Dates: Wednesdays, April 7 – May 12 (6 sessions) Time: 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm Location: Recreation Center B Grades: 1st grade through 6th grade Fee: $126 Resident / $136 Non-Resident Whether you are new to the game, learning to push pawns for the first time, or have played in numerous tournaments, and want to sharpen your skills, come to a Shining Knights Chess Club! We have trained numerous state champions and national trophy winners. We have trained even more kids to enjoy the game that they can spend hours playing with friends and family. So, whether you want to win games in your living room against your parents or win tournaments in other states, come join us and learn how to play chess or play better chess! 13

Kitchen Wizards will help them feel more confident working in the kitchen, and children will be proud to share their creations with the family. Featuring snack-y foods perfect for play dates or after-school, our littlest chefs in-training will learn some tasty sweet and savory recipes and gain confidence working in the kitchen. COOKING AROUND THE WORLD Date: Monday, August 16 - Thursday, August 19 Times: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Age: 9 - 13 years old Fee: $115 Children will "visit" France, Mexico, Italy, and Greece through foods that are specialties of each of those countries. 15

Put your skills to the test in the games such as Guess Who, What’s My Line and Family Feud. Week 2: Tues, July 6 – Thurs, July 8 Theme: Let's Dance (No Camp Held July 5) Who doesn’t like to sing and dance? During this short week, let’s get crazy. We all know how fun it is to move around and dance so let’s do it together! Working with our counselors, let’s choreograph a dance that everyone at camp can do! 16
Week 3: Mon, July 12 – Thurs, July 15 Theme: Nature What’s more fun than a scavenger hunt? Campers will have the opportunity to connect with nature and develop a love of wildlife through hands on experiences. Join us on nature exploration and investigation, games, crafts, hikes and more. Week 4: Mon, July 19 – Thurs, July 22 Theme: Science Exploration Release your inner evil genius while exploring science at the same time. Campers will learn basic elements of science such as mass, gravity, inertia and much more! Campers will perform basic experiments as well as themed games and activities. Campers will participate in a Wacky Science demonstration by Mad Science! Week 5: Mon, July 26 – Thurs, July 29 Theme: Summer Olympics Campers will showcase their talents during games and crafts specific to their group’s nation. Through friendly competition, campers will participate in their own Olympic games. Week 6: Mon, August 2 – Thurs, August 5 Theme: Water World Campers will indulge in various water-themed games as well as a water balloon toss, tie-dying, a visit from Kona Ice and the Wyndmoor Hose Company No. 1 Fire Truck! Counselor In Training (C.I.T.) The Counselor In Training Program is for teens ages 13-15. This program is geared to develop leadership skills. Although this is an unpaid position, CITs are an important part of Camp. CITs are responsible for aiding in camp operations. SPORTS CAMPS Jump Start Sports: College Days Dates: Monday, June 21 - Friday, June 25 Time: 9:00 am-3:00 pm Age: 6-12 Location: Laurel Beech Field Fee: $185 Resident / $195 Non-Resident Have a blast learning about and playing a wide variety of college sports including basketball, soccer, flag football, hockey, volleyball and more. Campers make a school pennant and t-shirt and wear their school colors to demonstrate their school spirit. Each day features a full-camp game in the morning, skill instruction in the day’s themed sport, and afternoon recreational games and activities. 18

i9 Basketball Camp Dates: Monday, August 2 – Thursday, August 5 Age and Time: Ages 5 – 12 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Half Day Fee: $125 Resident / $135 Non-Resident Age and Time: Ages 3-4 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm One Hour Fee: $60 Resident / $70 Non-Resident Location: Recreation Center A i9 Sports Basketball Camp will help participants gain an understanding and appreciation for playing the game "the right way". The schematic curriculum teaches the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, offense, defense, Game Strategy and Teamwork in a fun, positive environment by i9 Sports Certified Staff. All athletes, regardless of skill level, will learn basketball skills along with valuable sportsmanship lessons such as respect, teamwork, and responsibility. Registration includes an i9 Sports participant shirt, trophy and snack! 20

YOUTH PROGRAMS Theatre Horizon Summer Drama Camp Session I: Monday, June 21 – Friday, June 25 Session II: Monday, August 16 – Friday, August 20 Recreation Center B Boys and Girls 7 – 11 (as of camp date) 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Fee: $200 Resident / $210 Non-Resident Young actors spend a week working as an ensemble to create an original play - full of drama, comedy, suspense, and one-of-a-kind characters. Professional teaching artists guide campers through play-writing basics and fun improvisation games. On the last day, they perform their world premiere play. In Drama Camp, children make new friends, build listening and ensemble skills, take on leadership roles, and explore their creativity. Please pack a nut free lunch. 22
Pottery Works Mobile: Design Camp Dates: Monday, June 28 – Thursday, July 1 Times: 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm Location: Recreation Center A Age: 5 and Up Fee: $190 Resident / $200 Non-Resident In this week long camp your child will have the opportunity to build and create works of art with their hands. Some of their options in terracotta are plates, vases, and feathers with extra time to create something unique to them. With the oil based clay they can attach their creations to a carabiner clip and necklace. Pick up for all fired work will be within 10 days from the last day of camp. Some of our summer art activities will include painting on canvas, jewelry crafts, tissue-paper designs, magnet making, mosaics, ceramic painting, bead creations, wooden crafts, seashell painting and more! Work with pulleys, wedges, screws, and levers, build your own catapults and play robot soccer! Exercise your ability to work with others while constructing a geodesic dome big enough for all campers to fit inside! Let the engineering excitement begin! Secret Agent Lab – Spies Like Us (12:00 pm – 4:00 pm) Step into the shoes of a detective—uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Become a super sleuth and learn clever ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view of the science that spies use! 26
