In any case, come January 26, please feel free to invite others to join us for worship, a fellowship meal, and even our annual congregational meeting. And I hope that all our present members can and will be there for this special occasion. Another special occasion in the life of our church is coming up two weeks before the annual congregational meeting. During worship on Sunday, January 12, we will be ordaining Sally Todd as a ruling elder for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and we will be installing Sally, together with Tom Atchley and Jane Anne Spikes (who already are ordained ruling elders), into service on our session as members of the class of 2022. At that time, Marian Dyer and Nancy Qualls will rotate off the session. Both Marian and Nancy have served actively on session for each of the past six years, which is the maximum number of years in succession that one can serve on session in the PCUSA. A heartfelt thanks goes out to the two of them for the important contributions they have made to the session=s work of leading our congregational effort to become the church that God is calling us at this time to be. Along, I’m sure, with everyone else who has served on session with Marian and Nancy, I am deeply grateful for their work. The session=s work is important. And the two of them have done it gladly, graciously, and with much love for Christ=s church and for those the church is here to serve. Friday Bible Study The winter/spring session of Friday Bible Study will begin on Friday, January 17, and will run for 12 sessions. Dr. David Dyer is teaching. This session is on The Gospel According to Luke. It is always a delight to have Dr. Dyer teach and we are excited that Dr. Dyer feels well enough to teach. Come at 9:30 a.m. for refreshments and fellowship, with lesson from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Bring a friend and join the Friday Bible Study. Annual Meeting & Potluck/Fellowship Meal The session has called for the Annual Meeting of our congregation to be held following worship on Sunday, January 26, in conjunction with that day’s fellowship meal. At this meeting, we will hear session reports regarding the year gone by and prospects for the year ahead; we will vote on the financial compensation paid to our minister; and the floor will be open for members to share insights and/or raise questions regarding any and all aspects of our life and work together as a church. All are encouraged to be in attendance. Visitors are welcome to join us too!
