We pray for God’s blessings on our parish family as we begin our 100th Year! This weekend we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord as the Christmas season comes to an end. Our patron saint, John the Baptist, baptizes Jesus in the Jordan, and we are all reminded of the power of our baptism! There were two baptisms one hundred years ago in 1912: William Wallock on July 14, 1912 Walter Schmid on December 8, 1912. The baptisms were performed by Father John Naab In 1912, Fr. Naab was sent to establish the parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Manorville as its first pastor. Also in 1912 we began as a “mission” of Saints Peter and Paul. (Our parish remained a “mission” until 1922.) Please pray for the many children and adults baptized over these past 100 years! You can share baptism photos — just send them to Fr. Frank!

100th Anniversary Year St. John the Baptist Parish 1922—2022 Events include: Mass and Parish Barbecue June 25, 2022 Anniversary Journal Sharing our Stories and Photos “Time Capsule” filled by the children of the parish Parish Lenten Mission (week of March 13) Pilgrimage to the Holy Land (March 28)
St. John the Baptist Parish Centennial Jubilee Journal In addition to our liturgical and social celebrations, prayer experi- ences, and even a pilgrimage, the parish will create a Centennial Jubilee Journal to chronicle parish history and to highlight the various ministries of the parish – to “tell the parish story.” In the Journal we hope to include photographs and reminiscences, as well as stories of the many parish “heroes” that played a part in its rich history. The Journal will also serve as the major fundraiser for the Jubilee Year. We will be looking for volunteers to help with creating the Jour- nal. We will need committee members to collect photographs and write and edit the history portion, to help with layout and design, to solicit sponsorship ads from our vendors, local busi- nesses, and organizations, and to help coordinate the collection of parishioner sponsorship ads. St. John the Baptist Parish If you are interested in helping with the Wading River, NY Journal, please contact Jeff Pedersen at jpedersen@sjbwr.org. We will also have volunteer forms available in the gather- ing area, which you can fill out and we will be in touch with you. We look for- ward to the exciting year ahead and we hope the Journal will be a treasured Centennial Jubilee keepsake marking the Jubilee Year. 1922 - 2022
